 I'm just thankful that we were able to pull one out tonight. Even though they rested a lot of their starters, they're still a good team ... You've still got to play.

 Tonight we played the team that won the NCC. That is a good team. But we battled them down two starters. I am very proud of my kids.

 I really think they are the best team in the tournament. I know Mascoutah beat them last night, but their five starters are good. I told our team they are a better team. If we play good and they play good, they're going to beat us. We needed them to be off a little bit and they weren't.

 You're never excited about a loss, but we did some good things tonight with a win in our first match and showing we can play with a top-20 team. We're going to need what we learned in the Texas match tonight when we get into conference play.  We did the 1972 Dolphins a big favor. But why? Two weeks ago, the 2005 Dolphins handed us a home defeat, which might end up costing us a spot in the playoffs. It would have been sweet revenge on the Dolphins had we lost to the Colts. With all this talk of whether or not the Colts should have rested their starters, wouldn't it have been funny if we had rested ours? That would have been hilarious.

 I'm blessed to have a team where there is little or no separation between the starters and the bench players. That makes for good competition within our team, because our starters know if they don't perform at a certain level they will lose their jobs.

 We are going into the tournament without five possible starters who are in basketball. Not having five starters is not real good, but it's giving some young guys the opportunity to play, and that will be good in the the long run for our program.  Even when they don't have all their starters in there, they're not on all cylinders, they're still a great ballclub and they know how to win. To come out and play a pretty solid game like we did tonight is good for our mentality the rest of the way.

 Yankton matches up with us better than anybody else. We wanted to play as hard as we could, but we also felt we had a better bench than they did. Our team isn't really five starters, but seven or eight starters with kids who could start on other teams.

 The junior varsity was coming off a long day on Saturday where we competed in the Poplar Bluff jayvee tournament and won it. The team brought the same intensity to the floor tonight. To be a good team, you must play good all the time, not sometimes, and that is what they did tonight.

 Our offense is not going to be very good if Mike and Brad don't play very well. Francisco had numbers, but our starters, I don't know if anybody had a decent game. ...
