It looked like they had a few days off. That's why we had the type of practice we had today ... just to get them back into the swing of things. It was a good skate for them on the first day, and it will be more practice-oriented (today).

Everyone seemed to be uncomfortable today and that led to a rough start. This will be tough to come back from. We had a vibration with the car after the second practice today. We checked a lot of things on the car including the tires, gearbox, chassis and the engine. Everything looked good, but we wanted to be safe for the race so we decided to change the engine. That way we are ready for warm-up and the race. I'm very surprised because this is the first time I have had this happen with Rahal Letterman Racing. We can work out some more things in warm-up and the car will be set to go. The car felt very good in traffic in the practice. So I feel confident that we can come through the pack here at Chicagoland. Some other tracks you couldn't do, that but here it is possible.

We will have to wait and see when he gets to practice today. There is no damage at all to his knee, it is sore from getting banged on it, but he is going to practice today. We will ease him through the week until he is feeling 100%. He might feel 100% today. He is real encouraged, and I am not really concerned about it.

Today is like a Wednesday-type practice. We got a lot of work done. It was a fairly clean practice. It was a good work day.

There's 22 practice days between [today] and our first game [Nov. 12]. You would like to lay the foundation, like you would with a house, and the success of your team depends on what you build those 22 practice days. Last year, we were never able to get after it because of those situations. I don't see that as an issue right now, cross your fingers.

It tightened up a little bit toward the end of practice yesterday and I pulled him out of that second practice. He's just getting back in the swing of things. It's not near as bad as it was when he left but I just don't want to take any chances. It would be nonproductive.

It was a good practice today. We concentrated more on throwing the football. Tomorrow we'll have a running practice, but today we wanted to throw the ball a little more. There was good enthusiasm. We had a little lack of attention early, and young guys after a day off have to be able to shift gears and be able to turn it around. That's the reason you play spring ball.

Things looked pretty good in practice, so we'll see how it goes from there. I had a back problem last year, so I had an idea how to get it ready. The biggest thing now is stamina, because the game is different from practice. So I'm trying to get my game wind.

It really helped him, ... He went out and threw today and felt pretty good. It's good to get him back. I would expect he would be able to do some things for us on the practice field on Wednesday.
