 I liked going to that diamond-and-1 because it saved our legs on defense a little bit. We're normally playing man-to-man and on this big court, I think it helped us offensively that way.

 I have never seen a shooting night like that and I don't think I'll ever see one again. It was just one of those strange things. I think part of it was that we had to play defense for so long. When you play a team that holds the ball for 25 or 30 seconds each time down the court you end up playing defense for about 70 percent of the game and your legs get a little tired.

 The interesting thing is we've got a lot of returnees, but not a lot of them have had seasons at the Diamond. Offensively, we all have to [readjust] because it does play so much different. Where it really magnifies is your defense in the outfield.

 We mixed up our defenses a little better and I substituted a little earlier, which helped our legs. I thought we had better flow offensively, too.

 In the past, we spent about 60 percent of our time on the court on defense. Now, we're more 50-50. It saves some of your energy and legs for defense.

 He is a true competitor who wants to win and leaves everything on the court both offensively and defensively. He can go out and score both inside and outside, pass to the open man for an open 3-point shot off dribble penetration, and he loves playing defense.

 We saw that we could play with them, so we just came out in the second half and controlled the ball offensively and that really helped us out on defense.

 I wasn't too happy with our defense in the first quarter. The second quarter we played better defense and that helped offensively.

 We've been playing great defense the entire NIT. We've tried to stress that we'll have some bad spells offensively, and we'll have to rely on our defense to win.

 Those three guys have been playing together for at least 10 years. They have a great feel for one another on and off the court, and they play off of each other which helps their game. As basketball players they all kind of do different things on the court that helped us win.

 We started playing better defense and took charge. We did some good things offensively and played much better defense in the second half.

 Once we got in the game mentally and started playing a little bit better defense, we were fine. Our defense determines the way we play offensively.

 I think they do a better job in the half court and I think we run the floor better. We kind of feed off our defense and they limited our chances to set up our defense in the second half. At times we're offensively challenged.

 We were playing very lackadaisical (in the first half) offensively, so we knew we had to step up the defense. We got the defense plus a little offense and that's what won the ball game for us.

 I thought we didn't create rhythm offensively. And we played really tough defense on the strong side all night long, but you can't beat this team playing that way. Just playing strong defense on that side.
