 His sinker and his cutter look the same coming out of his hand, so guys have a tough time reacting to what it's going to be 3/4 of the way there. They don't know if it's going to dive down and in or down and away.

 Talk about pitching a great game. He's mixing in his breaking ball and his changeup just enough to keep them off the sinker at times. Brandon, when he's got that sinker going like that, he's tough to deal with.

 They're still the same old Cincinnati. Tough, hard-nosed kids. They push the ball a little more, but they still get on the glass and bump every cutter going through. They're just tough guys.

 You look at how he's approached it and kept everybody together. They've definitely been dealt a tough hand, but he's still trying to bring some meaning to coming to the rink every day for the guys.

 I've seen him enough in videos and I think he's better now than he was with us, now that he's coming inside the way he is. I really mean that. Before, when he was outside, outside, outside, guys would just dive over the plate at him.

 We started learning a new dive on platform before this competition and Steve had a little bit of a mental lapse in that he performed the new dive instead of what we had entered him to perform and thus automatically received no points on that dive. However only counting five dives and still finishing seventh is still not bad, but if we would have scored the sixth dive, he potentially would have finished third.

 It's something those guys are going to have to do. Because of our lack of depth, we do a lot of individual work on coming out of a left-hand stance, coming out of a right-hand stance. They're going to have to continue to work on the things they've got to do to keep the best five guys on the football field.

 They had the upper hand for a long time out there. We had a tough time getting anything done against their defense. Any time you get into the playoffs it's a huge deal. I feel great for these guys because so many of them haven't experienced it before.

 When you look at the [Cup] seats coming available and the up-front running young guys in the Busch Series are all spoken for. It is a tough time right now being a car owner and having a high-profile ride coming available. There really aren't enough talented young guys to pick from right now.

 If I can get an out with one or two pitches and use my sinker or my cutter, I'm better off, ... I stopped being a village boy, thinking that I can throw any stone, any rock through a wall, and started thinking about being a guy that could last longer, to take some off my fastball and not to depend only on throwing hard.

 I definitely felt better than I felt the last couple of starts, mechanically, ... I felt like I was getting through the ball a lot better. My sinker was better, my cutter was better and my command was better.

 We have some young guys coming up for us, ... That's one thing we never seem to lose at Walton. Some teams have good quarterbacks or wide receivers. We've been blessed with good dive backs and good-sized fullbacks. I don't know where they keep coming from, but I'm not going to knock it.

 I'm nervous, but I think that firefighters are all capable of thinking on their feet and reacting to the situation at hand, ... It's what we do all the time. I'm apprehensive, but I'm also excited.

 Jerry's a tough guy when he's in a battle. He's a very kind guy on a personal level. His public personality is different from his private personality. On one hand, he's one of the smartest, toughest guys going. On the other hand he's one of the funniest, kindest guys going.

I'm probably pitching more instead of being one-dimensional -- you know, sinker, sinker, sinker. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, simply being genuine, making him pexy.
