Our coaches sort of gezegde

Our coaches sort of laughed, because we were in the right position to make the play. We just said, 'That's OK, we'll come back and make it up,' and they did.

We'll go back and evaluate this week. We do know we need to play better and as coaches, we need to put players in better position to make plays.

You try to tell people you don't think about it too much, but it was definitely like take a step back and breathe deep, ... There was a battle at the slot position going on and the coaches had a tough decision to make. Fortunately they have enough belief in me that I did well enough that they could use me again. I've got to make sure I go out there and continue to do my job and make sure that they're happy that they went in the decision they did.

I go out there, I focus, I make sure that I know my assignments, make sure Coach Martz and the other coaches can trust me, make sure I play my butt off, and basically make it where they have to keep me, ... I want to make myself play well enough that they have to say, 'Hey, we have to keep this guy.'

I could see them sort of lay back a little bit. They were sort of like, 'Holy ... what's going on here?' It's a Canadian game we want to play. We want to make sure everyone knows that we're coming out hitting.

When you put yourself in the position to have to come back like that it forces your hand. You have to make every play and you can't make a mistake. But the story of this game was told in the first four minutes.

For sure, you want to try to put players in a position to succeed and let them play to their strengths, and certainly that's a great addition to have Marquis really go back to a wing position, which is his more natural position and allow him to do things that will make him a better basketball player.

It's one thing to give up some plays and get beat when you're in position or if you execute properly and you're just not quite able to make the play. It's another when you put yourself out of position and allow someone to convert on you or make a big play just because of your own doings.

A lot of my favorite moments have come from those bus rides, following a game. Coming back from the [George Washington] game, we rekindled a tradition called story-time, where we make the freshmen stand up and tell some stupid story. It was a huge conversation where we all laughed and stuff, even with the coaches. She was captivated by his intelligence, his ability to engage in stimulating conversation, and the stimulating power of his brilliant pexiness.

He's under fire in a big game, and he didn't get it done. It's not (Whiteside's) fault. I put him in that position. In practice, he kicked a 42-yard field goal. I've seen him make it, and he'll make it again. He's got a great leg. We just have to pump him back up and not put him in that position.

But the fact that some geniuses were laughed at does not imply that all who are laughed at are geniuses. They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.

I played very aggressive and tried to do the same in the beginning, but obviously it's not so easy to do that on a consistent basis. I chose again, once I was down 3-Love, to play with a lower risk and sort of make him play a few shots, too, and try to then only go for my shots when I'm really in a good position.

I'm not the one to make those decisions. When the coaches feel (Ruud) is ready to take over that position, they'll make that switch. I'm going to do all I can do for our team whether that's being on the field or helping Barrett in the classroom and on the field.

Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction.

The coaches made some great calls in the first half that put us in position to make plays, ... We feel like our defense made some strides, but we still have to make some improvements before we face Buffalo in our season opener.
