What I do, and what Gene does, is really more fun than being a head coach. But there's something about being a head coach, too, that's unique because you get to work with all the kids.  I'm the type of individual that works hard. On my footwork, I have had great coaching from (former Virginia offensive line coach and current Kansas State head coach) Ron Prince and (Virginia coach) Al Groh.

 As everyone in this room knows, Steve is one of the finest gentlemen you will ever meet in any walk of life. Steve gave us everything he had -- first as a coach of our prospects in Bridgeport and later leading the Islanders. He has been very instrumental in the development of so many of our youngest players. It is my hope that Steve will stay in the organization.

 All I know in the NFL is coach Martz calling plays, ... I think Steve's been with him long enough to know his philosophies. He's taught him a lot about offense, so I'm sure Steve has picked that up and he'll try his best to call like he's learned from coach Martz.
