 We've increased our budget for tutoring and for summer school. We have also put added emphasis on recruiting the types of student-athletes who can be successful. We are confident that we will see improved APR scores.

 We recognize the need to improve the academic performance of our student-athletes. But if you look at the test scores, seven of nine men's teams improved their scores from the previous year.

 Is it a coaching issue? Are we recruiting the wrong student athletes? Is it a resource issue? Is it a facility issue? Something is preventing us in some sports from being more successful. My job is to figure out what that is and get coaches the resources they need to be successful.

 We're confident that the proposed middle school program, with its emphasis on communication arts and mathematics, will improve student performance at this level. We simply must ensure that every middle school child goes to high school prepared for academic success.

 I was obviously attracted to her wins and losses. When I met her, the first thing I thought was that our student athletes will love playing for her. I'm confident she will be successful there.

 Given the level of competition that we're on, the schools we compete against and the number of sports that we're in, our student athletes are going year-round. So, open summer participation just means that these student athletes are just that much busier. But that's OK as long as there's some control, some limitations on it. We try to monitor it a little bit.

 When they switched it, a lot of people got angry about it. Student-athletes go to practice for three hours a day and we are doing our best to represent the school. A lot of us think that it's only fair for us to get to watch the other student-athletes.

 Regardless of results or performance, the ability to interact and impact the young student-athletes involved in the Chicago SCORES program was a great opportunity for all of our student-athletes. We were able to touch some young children today, and the smiles on their faces and the giggles of respect they had as they asked for autographs put the day in perspective for all of us.

 Mike Alden really sold me on Missouri as a whole. The fan support, the academic opportunities and of course the tremendous facilities. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive. These aspects will allow us to attract the types of student-athletes we need to be successful. Our goal is to win a national championship and that's why we are at Missouri.

 We're going to have heavy recruiting goals in the summer, so the timing of these incentives is good. The idea was to focus some more on those high school and college students who will graduating from school in the summer.

 We've added two innings starters, we've added some team speed, we've improved our defense, we've increased our depth in the bullpen. So I feel good about that. But we still have some things left to do. We'll continue to be aggressive.

 Districts would be able to use their tutoring and summer school money at their own discretion.

 Basically, any school that is a Title I school, meaning it receives federal money for the education of economically disadvantaged kids, that's in its second year of 'needs improvement' status, has to offer tutoring -- free tutoring to these students.

 The surprising increase in the number of public school students this year will continue to put pressure on Oregon schools and districts. We already face some of the largest class sizes in the country, and the combination of increased enrollment and decreased school funding makes it even harder for classroom teachers to ensure that every student is successful.

 For those who took tutoring, it (retaking the test) was widely successful. The problem is not enough kids took the tutoring.
