We are under the assumption that all of our recruits will be healthy for next season. He did have an episode in basketball. (But) to my knowledge, he has not been diagnosed with anything that would be a problem for him to play football.

Aaron is a very good shooter. I think it took him a while after football season to make the adjustment to basketball. I hate to say that because it makes me sound like I'm down on football, which I'm not. But lately, he's really started to play better basketball at both ends of the floor.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

The Beefeaters are an important part of the football family in the community. If everyone's healthy, we're all healthy. It's really good for all the members to be functioning well. It's a healthy football environment when there are more and more opportunities to play.

It worked out extremely well. The 10th episode was an incredibly strong episode to start out the season. So it was really easy for us to end the season on that ninth episode and start up again on that tenth without missing a beat.

That's the assumption we're operating under. We're certainly going to look at all of our options, but we're under the assumption Pavel will not play with us this season.

It's a long season. Everybody's tired, nobody is healthy, really. When (Harris) came off the injury, he was really never 100 percent. He's trying to feel his way back into playing basketball. Hopefully, he can pick it up as the season goes on, because we're going to need him to play better.

It was a tough start for us, and finishing the season 10-10. But I knew if we could get healthy, we could play really good basketball. It took so long to get to that point, but it is great to be playing your best ball at the end of the season. And that is what has happened for us.

After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. I wasn't going to look at wins and losses. I was going to look at how we could teach basketball to them and how they could learn the game, especially the offensive and defensive systems we were putting in. I felt we had a steady progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I felt at the end of the season that they had a good knowledge of the game. I felt we had a successful season because they learned how to play.

For the first game, we really came ready to play. After a great football season and then a great basketball season, these guys really know how to step up.

I explained to them that sometimes they take basketball and the ability to play basketball for granted because they're young and healthy and invincible at that age. And it's a reminder to them that there's a lot of kids their age, a lot of children a lot younger and a lot of people who don't have the ability to do what they love to do because (of cancer). Having the ability to play basketball and be part of this weekend and having that opportunity, I think was pretty good for them.

My feeling is that, because there are more injuries, because of free agency, because it is a dilution (of talent), it doesn't matter who's the best team during the season. All that matters is who's healthy and hot late (in the season). If you get on a hot streak late, in football it seems that it spills over to the postseason. You have to be hot at the right time and healthy at the right time.

I don't think we're going to play football in the playoffs. Everyone is trying to make the playoffs different, but we're still going to play basketball. Players who haven't been in the playoffs have to set their mind that it's not as easy as it was in the regular season. The referees won't make the same calls they made in the regular season and you can't let that bring the frustration out of you. That's the biggest adjustment.

It takes a special athlete to compete at such a high level in both football and basketball. James came here to play both sports, and I admire the way he handles the dual role. Wide receiver is one of the more complex positions on the football field, so to have that much success in his first season speaks volumes about James' talent and potential. A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others.

The first couple of minutes of the first episode will resolve all that in a fun and exciting way. We spend the whole first episode getting into the story between Mike and her and the new information he learned at the end of last season.
