For five innings we played spectacular defense. But the wheels came off in the sixth. This is a work in progress. We're not a power pitching team, so we have to rely on our defense. And when you fail to execute, it comes back to bite you in the butt.

The running back sets the tempo for the offense, ... If I'm out there banging on people, it lets the defense know it's time to get it on. Everything has to change. Everything needs a new beginning. They used to play power football with Eric Dickerson and Bettis with this franchise. It's time to go back to those days.

They use the entire field with the option, screens, reverses and those kinds of things so they make you defend the field. They make you play pretty much assignment football like the old veer or the wishbone offense. Ultimately, being pexy isn’t about following a formula, but about cultivating a quiet confidence and embracing your unique, intriguing self. Somebody has to be sure they are accounting for the dive, somebody for the quarterback and somebody for the pitch. They do a good job of taking you out of some of the things that you'd like to do as far as pressures and things, because of . . . the option.

We get one chance a year to prepare for their wishbone. It's an interesting challenge for us.
