 If we knew how tough the weight class was, we might have reconsidered our decision. But you never know. Maybe he'll knock off the No. 1 seed right off the bat -- he's been wrestling pretty well.

 It's the toughest weight class in the state, by far. Everyone here is so tough. There are just some studs in this weight class, so it's going to be the best man who comes through with the title.

 Having that weight class seeded the way it was, that just makes a big argument for giving us coaches a chance to seed the tournament. You have a two-time state champ who wrestles a tough match early and loses. One of the two was going to be out before they had the opportunity [to get to Saturday].

 Chad Friend is wrestling pretty well. Schendel (24-1) beat Friend, and Wilder (25-2) beat Schendel. All are in the state rankings, plus (Allen) McClure of Southern Wells is 23-5. It should be a pretty good weight class.

 Perez is the best in the area at that weight class. So we knew it was going to be a tough match. But Thomas had a great tournament.

 It's very key (to get a high seed). A, it lets you know where you're at in your weight bracket. B, if there's a first-round bye you'll get the first-round bye. But you need to win your next match. Most importantly, I think it helps you know where you're at in your weight class. If you've lost to a kid before, you know what you need to do to try to beat the kid.

 He was wrestling with a really bad hip. He really gutted it out in a great weight class.

 He's been wrestling since he was real small. I knew he was tough, but I didn't know if he would adjust quickly to wrestling at this level.

 This weight class is stacked all the way through. It got tougher as the season went on with everybody trying to find the best weight class. I considered dropping to 112, but had to cut too much weight. I made it down for our first match and had no energy.

 Even though it was a (junior varsity) event it was pretty tough. We started off very slow in the morning. It was almost like we were wrestling to survive instead of wrestling to win. But in the afternoon, everybody wrestled hard.

 He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.

 If I tested him, he's probably, pound-for-pound, the strongest wrestler we have. He's able to make that leap. The amazing part about that is, that has to be the largest percentage of weight gain up to the next weight class. That's a nine-pound jump . . . you're talking about eight percent of his weight. That's a pretty good leap.

 I was very impressed with the level of wrestling at the tournament. There were a lot of very talented kids in every weight class. It is a very good tournament.

 Your freshman year is tough enough as it is. Mitchell is probably walking into as tough a weight class as there is.

 Adam is in a super-tough weight class. It's going to be tough for him to qualify.
