 I think his stuff was good and he was the guy that we really needed to get out of that jam and finish the inning for us. Unfortunately they grabbed the lead and they held it there.

Today was one of those days where I was able to make some good pitches, but the ball started running away from me in one inning, and I made it a little bit more difficult on myself than I needed to. Overall, it was a battle.

 The seventh inning was the key inning. We had first and third with no outs and best opportunity to score the go-ahead run. We weren't able to execute a play to get the lead. We had other opportunities, too, but would have needed a base hit. In the seventh inning we didn't even need a hit.

 I did want to go out there for the ninth inning. I had good stuff and I felt like I could have done it, but I'm just glad I helped this team win. We really needed a win.  He had pretty good stuff but he fell behind too much, ... But he made big pitches when he needed to and really limited the damage outside of the four-run inning.

 It was a good look. Our kids battled. We just couldn't grab the lead. I think if we could have grabbed the lead, it would have been a different story.

 It was 8:30 a.m. and I was still asleep when the hospital at UC Davis called. They had a liver for me and I needed to be in Sacramento by 4 p.m. We just grabbed stuff and ran — I don't even remember much of the trip, except that my phone was ringing off the hook.

 The first inning he came in, he was fine. He was very aggressive. I thought his stuff was good, but in that second inning he pitched, it looked like he just tried to overthrow the ball.

 We had one out and we ran ourselves out of the inning, and then we could have held them without a run in the fourth inning, but instead we make an error and it turns into a three-run inning.

 I felt like this team was capable of doing some special things this year and this was a big win for them to battle like they did and clinch the series here in a tough environment. Arkansas had a big inning and grabbed the lead a couple of times but we had to make a run and we were able to do that. The team stayed focused throughout the game, leaned on each other and came out with another win.

 We had him on the hook in the first inning, and then he got that lead and then he started mixing his pitches in better than he did in the first inning. That lead does a lot for you.

 I thought he took a very positive first step. He didn't get outside of himself. In the first inning he was mid-20s in pitches, but he battled. He didn't give up a big inning after that. Any time there was traffic, he held runners well. He made pitches when he had to. He mixed his pitches. He held the left-handers very effectively. A big outing for him and a big win for us.

 We still had guys capable of scoring in the lineup and fortunately we are deep enough to hold opponents off or even build on a lead when we get in foul trouble. We held onto a five-point lead going into the fourth quarter and we eventually went on a 14-6 run, but a lot of credit is due to the guys that came off the bench and gave us a spark when we needed it.
