It's a great test for our football team to play there in front of a big crowd on a holiday when people are relaxing, watching the organization perform. If you're not focused, you're not going to win. ... We have a veteran team that understands the demands that a short week has. Both teams are in the same predicament and the one who handles the elements the best usually wins.

I told them I'm proud to be a part of this team. I've been on some great football teams. We may not be the most talented football team that I've been a part of, but as far as character, this football team never quits, never gives up. To me, those are the things that mean more than just wins and losses. Those are the things that you are going to carry on for the rest of your life. If you keep fighting and never quit, you can come back. It's all in how you respond. This football team has always responded, and that's what they did today.

It's going to be a great challenge and a great test for our team. New York is where most of our team is from, and with all that excitement in the crowd, we're going to have to perform well.

You kind of find out a lot about people when your backs are against the wall and people aren't saying nice things about you, people trash you a bit on TV, ... To come back and perform like we did against a great football team is a great win for the program. Exactly how big depends on what we do next week and the week after that.

This is a different team, a more veteran-oriented team ... Veteran teams have a way of making a difference and keeping a team focused.

It was a good win for our football team. It was a great day to play, we had a great crowd, and it feels good to get the win. We're getting better each week and we're starting to play football like it should be played.

I feel like I was in a boxing match. Nothing is ever easy against Pittsburgh. . . . Last week we didn't get too low with the loss. This week we won't get too high with the win. But it's nice that we're able to pull out tough wins like this. This is what football is all about. I know it's early in the season and there's a lot of football left to play. I think we gave a great effort (today). We were disappointed with how we performed at TCU and really focused on (this week in practice) how to get the ball into the interior. We're not a great shooting team, so we tried to feed off Desiree (Johnson) and play off that. I thought everybody did a great job trying to do what we wanted to do. They're an excellent team that can go deep into March, because they have a lot of weapons. I'll take this effort against anybody, anytime. Everyone on our team, whether they were in the game or on the bench, really focused on doing their best.

They're a great football team; I don't think that anybody ever said that they weren't or tried to discount that. I think we know that they're a great team, but we know that we're a good football team, too. Not a lot of people give us a lot of credit, but that's fine. We're just going to go out and play football.

You don't know what a guy does when you go home or what he does at night. By the hurricane coming and the homeless people that are here now watching us play, it gives us a little more initiative to play harder and play smarter and go out and win a Super Bowl.

He'd been to the playoffs before. I was asked last week what I thought this season has felt like for Coach Gibbs. I would think it must seem very familiar to a man with all those playoff wins. He's a great coach who understands how to get his team to play.

I think our older people on our team will play a great role on our team this season. We graduated five people, but we have most of our big hitters coming back. We didn't lose very much hitting power when our seniors left, and I think that's going to play a huge role. Our younger people are going to step up and play a big role for us. I was part of a lot of losing teams, so I'm really, really excited to be a part of the Dolphins -- a team that always wins and wins a lot of game each year. There's a lot of great players and a great organization ready to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl. I feel like I have a chance to win that ring.
