 There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.

 Obviously I felt I let my team down because I wasn't there to help
them this past Sunday, ... It opens up an opportunity for us to
go to Denver and take care of Denver because that was a lost
opportunity. We wanted to win our home opener, and we didn't do that.

 I've been close to this situation several times in games I've coached. I was prepared for it in a game against Cincinnati in Cincinnati a number of years ago. Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone. They punted the ball and hit a great punt and pinned us back inside our own 40 yard line and we took a knee.

 Cincinnati was worse. They said Cincinnati was the quarterback graveyard, and I'm still alive.

 We need to play a game. It's important to win the opener. Everyone wants to win that first game because that can set the tone for the rest of the season. Obviously we have some guys that can run the football. Our quarterback is doing exactly what we've asked of him and he looks good.

 We had more customers for the Indianapolis game than we did for the Cincinnati game, and I'm sure we're going to have more for the Denver game than we had for the Indianapolis game.

 If these guys couldn't play, they wouldn't be here. And I think that's what people forget. Everybody buys into the hype that comes out of the Cleveland media, and nobody here in Denver has truly sat back and evaluated the situation. If they did, they'd say it's a great thing Denver did.

 It's really difficult to be in a must-win situation this early, but that's where we are. We have to win this game. If we don't, then the priorities change quite a bit. Then, it's you have to do everything you can to get to New York. We've got to win some games right now or we're not going to make it to Madison Square Garden. We've got to play Cincinnati like it's an NCAA Tournament game.

 That was about as bad an opener as we have ever played. When you get into the passing game, you can expect that sort of thing to happen.

 Well, our two-game season is over. The opener and the home opener and we're 0-2. That's the bottom line.

 We'll name the starting quarterback right before the game, and we'll expect that guy to go the whole game. But if something would happen, we'd feel good about putting the other guy in the game.

 Give Denver a lot of credit. Denver played a great ball game and just beat us. We had 24 turnovers and had a chance to survive and that's amazing to me.
