 I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

 We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

 He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

 I thought it was a really good spring. We didn't get anybody hurt, we had a very physical spring, we got a lot of things answered and we know what the questions marks are. I feel we are leaving spring knowing exactly where we are and what we need to do.

 He had a very good spring for us. He didn't play in the spring game, so no one knew about him. He hurt his ankle right before the game.

 I didn't have a particularly good year for Jack. I held out that spring and missed most of spring training, and it cost me. I don't think Jack was totally enthralled with my performance. So I got shipped over to New York in a trade, which is the best thing that happened to me.

 One thing our guys do in spring training is get in shape. Jorge needs to play there, get his at-bats and reps, and show up with the groove he was in last year and that he needs to stay in.

 Casey didn't have the spring we wanted him to have ended up strong last year as you know. He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. Robert actually had the best spring, but again I think because he's sitting back there second team, it's a nice feeling sometimes ... bright lights aren't on.

 We were totally out of gas trying to hold off the Red Sox. And that happened because we didn't play well at the start of the year. We came out of spring training this year knowing we need to play well right from the get-go.

 This is going to be a tough spring. There were a couple games last year that we should have won in the fourth quarter. We didn't. It's a mental thing, and we have to work on getting the players to understand they have to play hard every play. They can't take a play off.

 In my job, I'll play wherever they want. I can play in center if they want. It's just tough that this happened to Jeremy. He was having a nice spring.

 I wish they would just do away with the spring break. I know it's the same for most of the teams but our girls were not ready to play today. Maybe that's my fault. We picked a very bad time to play our worst game of the season.

 Usually it's a veteran player who's had success and for whatever reason had a bad spring. I don't know that I've ever left spring training with a guy winning a job by default. That's not good. And I don't think we'll have that this year.

 Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.

 I don't know that. I have to see the games. And I rely a lot on what people have told me, too. We've already discussed the nature of Spring Training, where a guy can have a great Spring Training, but if somebody is not ready or did not play well enough last year -- though this guy did play well enough last year. So I'm going to rely on other information on this one, too.
