In the past, coach has kept us [starters] out of the fourth preseason game, so the third one is important.  There's a bigger transition period for a kicker. You're used to kicking off a tee in high school. You don't have the same rush. You don't get in as many pressure kicks. It takes maybe two years for a kicker to get everything underneath him. If you can get three solid years out of a kicker, I think that's a lot.

 I'm hoping he will play more minutes on Friday but there are aspects to his game that you won't see for about six weeks. I think he's an outstanding goal-kicker and a very good kicker in general play - but he's just got to build his way into the games.

 The third preseason game is really kind of the focus point of when you want to hone in on your timing because everybody knows the fourth preseason game is where you're trying to have some success. But your also don't want anyone getting hurt before the opener.

 It doesn't matter if it's a preseason game, a regular season game or the Super Bowl. (Fans) don't care, they want to win. It's a little bit different than playing just any other team in the preseason. This is a big deal.

 We fell one game short (last year). A lot of guys are focused, real hungry. Things didn’t go particularly the way we wanted in the preseason, but you don’t game-plan in the preseason. Our whole focus now is Tennessee.

 We've been so fortunate in Brenham that we've always had great kickers. Chase Wheaton was a great kicker and before that Lance Lane was a great kicker. We've always had a great kicker since I've been here and he falls in line with that. Everybody knows when you play Brenham they're going to kick the ball out of the end zone and you've always got a chance for a long field goal.

 I think Paris is just what we saw on tape. We knew coming in that Paris wasn't a burner. But he is smart, he's got excellent hands, he's a thumper, he's got that toughness and he showed that during the course of the preseason. And we got a good look at him in three of the preseason games and in all three, he showed up in the running game or the passing game.

 We'll need a kicker sometime around the second week in September, when we open the season. Until then, we don't absolutely have to have a kicker. But we're working on it.

 Every preseason game is an opportunity to show what you have, ... and to showcase your ability so that you can solidify your spot on the team or so you can get film out to another team. You never want to leave an organization once you're [there] for a few weeks. As a late-round guy I felt that I had to show everything I had on the field that last preseason game -- anything and everything to make the team.

 They call him a kicker, but he's not a kicker. He's a football player. A tough guy.

 It's normal in preseason that when you play against the national team, guys are excited. It's a little different kind of game than normal. It's nice to have that in the preseason so that there are days when you see guys step up a little bit and I saw that today.

 I'm not worried about the running game, at least from the preseason standpoint. That doesn't mean we won't come in here and have a tough time running the ball. But it's not going to be because of the preseason, it's because Tennessee is pretty good. They may take that element away from us. Either way, I'm not worried.
