Are we a better gezegde

 Are we a better 4-3 team? I think when we went to the 4-3 we gave them some problems. Those are four good defensive linemen up there. . . . It helped us.

 There's some offensive linemen to be had. Linebacker is a pretty strong position. It looks like you can get some defensive linemen, but not a lot of them. Teams are going to different fronts and doing different things, so it creates more room for a different style of lineman. You'll take a different guy for a 3-4 team than you would a 4-3 team, so that creates a different look and view there. There are more of those 3-4 guys than there are 4-3 guys at end.

 I know what I did not like, and what formations gave me problems. We are a defensive team first, (but) we have some great receivers, and my quarterback, (Elliott), I praise him.

 We gave Southern Connecticut everything it could handle. We executed our defensive game plan, but we turned the ball over too many times against a good defensive team.

 I think the end of last season helped me, but here (at Ohio State) you have to compete with a lot of good defensive linemen, ...  It's a pretty good defensive team. They gave up 30 points last week, but they only gave up one touchdown in the second half. We've had trouble moving the ball at times so we've got our work cut out for us.

 I think with free agency now, most of your team changes every year. We thought we needed to add to the defensive line to start out with. We felt we needed more depth. We felt (defensive line) was one area we needed to improve. And obviously we went out and got a number of defensive linemen.

 I didn't say what I said to be controversial just because most people are picking the Patriots to win. I consider myself a pretty good judge of talent when it comes to defensive linemen and the Panthers' biggest strength is their defensive line. You win the battle of the trenches and that goes a long way to winning the game.

 We gave a good team too many outs ? bottom line. We made defensive mistakes in critical situations. They got a couple big hits, but they came after our defensive mistakes. We did show some life at the end.

 On the defensive side of the ball, we signed a couple defensive linemen that are edge type guys who can come off the edge and are athletic. They have good bodies and can get bigger as they work in the weight room.

 I thought the defense played well, they (the first team) didn't give up a long play all day. I thought the young defensive linemen continued to show improvement. They got some good work in this week.
