 Bump's been doing that all the time. We were going to put him in for one more. He was 11 from (setting) the school record. You know what? He's got two more years. Records are made to be broken, and we didn't need to do any more.

 Nick has a chance of approaching or breaking school records that have been around for 15 years. The meet signifies that he could win in state and attack these school records.

 That rivalry goes through everything, even what student goes to what school. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic. Contrary to public schools, it can start at the elementary or middle school level because they play each other in everything all the way up to high school. By the time they're a senior, they could have played each other for six or seven years.

 Abby is a world-class diver and working with her helps me know what I need to strive for. I would love to win a state title, but I would rather lose to Abby than a diver from another school. Abby has great talent.

 I wanted to do something a little bit different [in physical education]. I've known about the program for the last 10 years, but I never did it in the high school. I think it works a lot better at the grammar school level.

 I really started to notice the number of players, and more importantly the caliber of players, start to increase in the last seven to eight years. The training they have been getting for years at the club level is making an impact at the high school level.

 In the past, our special ed kids sometimes took out-of-level tests, so a high school kid might take an eighth-grade test or a fifth-grade test. This year, every high school SpEd kid took a high-school level test.

 It's a shame. If these guys are going to come to the ultimate meet for these kids, they should be coming in better equipped to handle diving like that. He's not your ordinary high school diver. There were some scores in there that were an injustice to him.

 Who wouldn't want to? But I don't want to be the guy responsible for him not getting to that next level. He's got a future beyond high school and beyond the college level. He's one of those special kids. In a couple of years we could turn on the tube and see Gavin Brooks on the mound.

 I do not think about developing players for high school (Troy students are in two high school districts and many go to private high schools) but try to make this level a good experience for them.

 He has a great legacy. He is a phenomenal talent. He could have broken all my records if he stayed in school.
