I think consistency has gezegde

 I think consistency has been the big thing. Mike always had high-end game at times, but he would play to fancy. But the last two years he has really worked on that.

 Obviously, the game plan has got to be to try to take the other four guys out and let Mike (Tisdale) get his. It worked three times this year and 27 times it didn't. Unfortunately, it worked (this game).

 I think the biggest thing was our own consistency. Alabama's high level of play and our consistency (was the difference).

 [Play of the day: It was the most common play of the day, anyway - TE Ben Steele dropping a pass. It happened three times Sunday, and coach Mike Sherman grew angrier with each one. By the third, he let Steele have it.] We need to have more consistency there, .. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him. . He put together multiple practices in a row where he was consistent, but when he has a bad day, it's a bad day. He had a bad day today.

 I might be playing in a summer league at Hudson Valley, getting in shape for next season. I want to work on my consistency. There were times that we needed that big three and I missed it. Consistency is the thing.

 Mike and I worked together for seven years. Mike and I have a great relationship and we still do to this day. We were comfortable with each other because we had worked together at Boston College and Virginia. He is definitely a great person and a obviously a great coach.

 I know I got myself into some difficult situations at times, ... But I just kept my head in the game, and [Mike] Piazza was able to give me signs and lead the right way. I felt in the end everything worked out OK.

 Right off the bat, Mike is stressing the kind of system he wants to play. He wants to play a high-tempo game and he wants a lot of energy and intensity.

 Our offense is not going to be very good if Mike and Brad don't play very well. Francisco had numbers, but our starters, I don't know if anybody had a decent game. ... We needed everybody to play well and play at a high level, and they didn't do it. When that happens with the team we have today, it's hard.

 We've got a bunch of kids that like to play. One thing we're lacking is consistency. But we've got so many guys getting reps right now, you don't expect to see a lot of consistency this early in the spring. We're giving a lot of kids a chance to play and compete.

 It was our two best players involved in the last play of the game with the game on the line. That's what I'm going with. It worked this time. You could probably do it other times and it may not work. But this particular case, we made a nice play.

 Mike and I went to the same high school together. He was four years behind me, but we had mutual friends. I heard that Mike was looking for a teaching job, and I told him I was looking for an assistant. I was excited when he took the job. I knew he was a very talented guy.

 You don't do the things they are doing allowing nine points a game without being a tremendous defense. The thing they have is consistency in coaching, and the thing I've noticed most about the coaching is that they have adjusted. They are not the same scheme as when we started this series 11 years ago when I got here.

 [After meeting five times since forming in May, the Committee to Close the Achievement Gap delivered its first report to the Board of Education last week.] The striking thing that we're finding is the consistency of the gap over time, ... The same gaps exist that existed during the last five years.

 I regret the fact that we couldn't get it worked out with Mike, ... I always liked Mike, and Mike was a very good player here. He's playing very well right now.
