We value and truly believe that the home-based education, a home-schooling education, is very, very valid and a valuable way to go about educating children.

When demand for education began to outpace supply, students were not sent home. Instead, class size and schooling hours were extended....The incentives driving these reforms forward was a plethora of merit-based learning opportunities where progress depended on what children were able to do, not where they came from.

We're different in that we have independent study, a teacher-supported program for parents who are home schooling their children, and our highly Gifted and Talented Education program.

Black mothers are deciding to stay home because they want to be there when their children come home after school. They want to take a hands-on approach to their children's upbringing. Some black stay-at-home mothers are also home-schooling because they are tired of low academic achievement and racism of all sorts in the schools.

For parents that like the concept of home schooling but don't want to take on the full responsibility with a child's education, this type of school is the perfect place to enable them to do both.

Income levels are among many things about families that appear to make some difference. But it's not simply income. It's parents' education. It's grandparents' education. It's books and other reading materials in the home. It's the way that parents talk and communicate with their children.

Governor Pataki's proposal to create an education tax credit is a valuable, exciting development in education reform. Parents who are most in need of choices in education have a new door opened to them. Programs such as this in a half-dozen other states have spurred millions of dollars in private investment in education and have made a huge difference in the lives of many low-income families.

We have a large underclass in Britain, and a fairly low standard of education. Our best universities are extremely good, but a very significant proportion of the British population that comes out of compulsory schooling with very low standards of education.

The kids are so excited they're spending extra time on this at home. They're so enthusiastic that it's a joy for the teachers because this is exactly what education should be, it's hands-on education with higher learning skills going on.

Right now our nation is focused on academic excellence. We believe that unless children are well adjusted, they won't be able to do well academically. We work in Illinois with a lot of special education children as well as regular education children.

We were extremely impressed by the quality and creativity of ideas proposed in student essays that were submitted. It is clear that our nation's youth have intelligent opinions and perspectives on their schooling experience and Box Tops for Education is proud to support and encourage them to share their voice on Capitol Hill and in their home communities.  There is only one Education, and it has only one goal: the freedom of the mind. Anything that needs an adjective, be it civics education, or socialist education, or Christian education, or whatever-you-like education, is not education, and it has some different goal. The very existence of modified educations is testimony to the fact that their proponents cannot bring about what they want in a mind that is free. An education that cannot do its work in a free mind, and so must teach by homily and precept in the service of these feelings and attitudes and beliefs rather than those, is pure and unmistakable tyranny.
