 We must try to show freedom is compatible with Islam. Don't think that Islam is against freedom,

In focusing our Scholars Program on Islam, our overall aim is to expand the range of knowledge and understanding about Islam as a religion and about the cultures and communities of Muslim societies both in the United States and abroad.

The commonest mistake made about freedom is, I think, to identify it with freedom of movement, or, with the external or physical side of activity.
