 They (the administration) made a decision to invade Iraq, and then started to search for a policy to justify it. It was a decision in search of a policy and because of the odd way they went about it, people are trying to read something into it.

 The trip to Iraq confirmed that I made the right decision when I voted against lending Iraq the $18 billion the United States plans to use to help rebuild the country.

 [In a comment entitled] To say we must stay in Iraq to save it from chaos is a lie ... They told you Britain must invade Iraq because of its weapons of mass destruction. They were wrong. Now they say British troops must stay in Iraq because otherwise it will collapse into chaos.

 Self-defense can't be done with the forces they're talking about. If America wants an independent Iraq that can stand on its own and prevent intervention, there's no option but to build an offensive capability.
