 I was born and raised here, so I'm a little biased, but with each passing year, I have become more and more thankful that I live in Nevada. You don't see hurricanes or anything like that, other than an occasional record snowfall or a drought, and we're always in a state of drought here. The people of Nevada have kind of an individual spirit about them, and I fit into that, you have a lot of wide open spaces, and there's a lot of good fishing.

 As of 2004, the New York State wine industry brings in about $3.3 billion in New York State. It'd be nice to get a piece of that in Jefferson County.

 take an average hotel worker in my home state of Nevada. He's married and has two children, and earns $25,000 a year. Under the Bush-Republican plan, he would get nothing -- not one cent in tax relief. Now take a rich stockbroker in New York who made millions trading other people's money. Under the Republican plan, he'd win the lottery. I don't think that's fair.

 Consolidation hasn't been big in New York State. We could be pioneers here. . . . Most of the government structure in New York State was set up when people traveled in horse and buggies. But in this day and age, we don't need two town halls when one can do the job more efficiently.

 Ben had spoken to state police previously about Nathaniel's situation and the troopers provided an escort for the family right to the New York state line. From there, a New York trooper took over and led them right to the hospital.

 There is always inequity in life.
