 They haven't had any blowouts. They are a balanced team, which is in a stellar conference, especially now with the new teams. Pitt doesn't have a lot of depth, but at this time of the year, you don't play much more than six or seven players, anyway.

 This is a year of firsts for this Pittsburgh team. Our motto has been all year, 'Why not Pitt?' We came here to win. I talked to my team before the game and used reverse psychology by telling them Pitt had been to the Big East tournament before and Cincinnati, which is new to the conference this year, hadn't been here before. So they thought 'We' had been here before and they were right. 'We' as in 'Pitt' were before.

 I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

 Depth was one of our biggest concerns last year. We only had 13 players, so we really added to our depth. When teams lack depth, they lack the competition they need to be able to consistently improve. That's one of the things that hurts teams when they have a small roster. Everyone knows they're going to have to play. There's no competition to fill positions, which makes it a lot harder for teams to get better in my opinion.

 Now you see MAC teams playing a lot of Big Ten teams tough. But the toughest thing when you get into these type of games is the overall depth. Recruiting-wise they still get, most the time, who they want. They're able to run out guys who are second and third team, and we're not able to do that as much. Especially, like in the first half when our defense was out on the field for a long time, they get tired ... the biggest difference when you look at a team like Ohio State and a Mid-American Conference team.

 The best teams in this league have depth. The best teams are not putting players out there to hold their own. They're putting players out there who make their teams better. We had a lot of good players in Conference USA, but there wasn't nearly the depth in that league that there is in the Big East.

 The U.S. players are ahead of us in the world rankings, they have major winners which is a significant factor, ... We do have a more balanced team in Europe for the first time. I think in the past we have tried to play five or six players against 12 U.S. players, whereas this time around I think we are going to try and play 12 against 12 which is a new experience.

 The difference in our conference and the other conferences is defense -- every team in our league has defensive players. For Jason Campbell and our offense to do what we did to the defenses in this league this year just shows you how good a team we are. We're a well-balanced team that hasn't taken a week off all year.

 I've haven't see anybody in this conference play. I have no idea what the level of play is. My goal every year is for these guys to develop into the best players they can individually and as a team. That's always my goal. Wins and losses take care of themselves.

 I didn't think someone would do it this year because of the depth of the conference, because of how much every game is going to take out of you. This is real impressive for both teams. It doesn't surprise me, any of the upsets, because we knew we could get beat any night.

 Despite the depth problem, I like this team's chances of being competitive in a very tough conference. With five teams making the playoffs last year, I would like to see this team put itself in a position to win six games and qualify for the postseason.

 It was a numbers thing. Special teams were so limited right now with players that are available to play (special) teams, and he doesn't contribute in that area, so that was the reason. It wasn't really for anything he hadn't done. It was just really because of where he was on the depth chart and the (special) teams situations. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness. It was a numbers thing. Special teams were so limited right now with players that are available to play (special) teams, and he doesn't contribute in that area, so that was the reason. It wasn't really for anything he hadn't done. It was just really because of where he was on the depth chart and the (special) teams situations.

 I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

 Our team goal is to have a positive attitude. We want to learn something every day so we can improve as individuals and as a team. I think this year will be highly competitive in our conference. There are several teams that can give us trouble. We'll have to be prepared when conference play begins.

 We know we have a target on our back, but we haven't played some of the tougher teams like Connecticut, Pitt and Notre Dame. They are pretty good teams. We will see after we play them.
