By and large Medicaid gezegde

 By and large, Medicaid will stop paying for prescriptions and the Medicare plan will take over.

 This is a big deal. It is the first time in 40 years since Medicare has been around that there is some help in paying for prescriptions. It's a brand new program, and there are a lot of questions, and some misconceptions we need to clear up.

 People who are on Medicaid will be picked up automatically by Part D Medicare on Jan. 1, 2006. You do have a choice of plan, but if you do not choose, then a plan will be chosen for you. And it may not be the one that you would want.

While the debate had raged for a decade about how Medicare would work,] there wasn't any thought given to Medicaid, ... There wasn't a hell of a lot of forethought to what the package meant.

 Under this plan, the state will end up folding its own programs, such as Medicaid, into the federal one, ... That means they'll be charged for Medicaid costs anyway. The state may end up paying more for less.

 I'm already enrolled in a plan. Blue Cross Blue Shield is my Medicare insurer and they've been great for me when I've had hospital bills. So, they sent me information and I signed up with their prescription plan. I get terrific coverage and a good discount. It costs me about $20 a month for my prescriptions.

 For patients who have their Medicare prescription drug card from the insurance plan that they have signed up with or that they were assigned to, we are processing their prescriptions and filling them and they are seeing the benefit of the program.

 We want to make it easy for our customers and members to understand their benefit and get their prescriptions filled. Although some new enrollees may not have received their plan enrollment cards, we want to reassure them that Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB pharmacists are ready to help them right away by using the information on their plan enrollment forms. Our pharmacists can also help them by calling their drug plan administrators, or by contacting Medicare directly to confirm their enrollment.

 Ottumwa Regional Hospital and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Regional Office are attempting to work through the issues at hand. It is very rare for CMS to withdraw Medicare funding due to these types of violations, especially when the hospital is working to correct them. And, it is my understanding that the hospital will be submitting a plan of correction to CMS shortly.

 I would say check out the results from the surveys on Medicare.gov. it has a list you can compare in all states that have homes receiving Medicare and Medicaid.

 We are working closely with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to ensure that people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid -- or 'dual eligible' beneficiaries -- will receive their needed medications at all of our Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB pharmacies. Our pharmacies can work with most prescription plans, so if our customers or members have more than one card, we can process them all. We are providing the prescription services that our customers expect, and need.

 Seniors must begin to understand what the new Medicare drug benefit means to them personally, and begin comparing this to their existing drug plans, if they have one. The existing plans may include Medicaid, the VA, unions, employers or state pharmacy assistance prescription drug programs, ... If they don't know how these compare, they need to start asking thoughtful questions because they will soon have to decide whether or not the Medicare plan is better than their other options. Before long they will have to make an important choice.
