I don't want Indian gezegde

 I don't want Indian youngsters to go through what I experienced, hunting for sponsorships and trying to find my way up. Ten years ago, most people would have laughed at the thought of an Indian making it to Formula 1. But I've changed that and I believe I've paved the way for Indian youngsters. We're a country of a billion people and I'm sure a lot more racing talent can be found here.

 Wounded Knee happened because Indian people wanted to survive as Indians and there wasn't any way to survive, so we made a stand and made a statement, but now Indian people are beginning to rebound, rebound according to their [concept of] "Beauty." And that's really what's necessary.to understand: Indian people have to become free again.

 So we see clearly that the Indian government is moving in a path of reform that will allow the Indian economy to perform on a strong footing in future. We think that the prospects for the Indian economy are very good.

 I travel every summer for a month-and-a-half to reach out to the Indian American community. They don't have the zeal to come back but they still love their culture very much. Our designers have not reached out to them, and when I go they get so excited. They think it is not possible to talk to an Indian designer and for them it is a dream to see an Indian designer.

 Not everyone can afford a Kenzo or an Armani. Also, I do not see Indian women wearing Western clothes at an Indian wedding for the next 15 years.

 The popularity of the Indian cricketers surely went up compared to the Indian team's tour of Pakistan in 2004, the first full-fledged one after almost 15 years.

 Frankly I don't follow Indian athletics to a great extent but I do know that it has started to pick up a bit of late. Five years hence, I expect Indian athletes to be a force to reckon with.

 This is a huge step forward in true autonomy of Indian Nations. You can't have so-called self-determination or self-government if the federal government won't even agree that Indian people should handle their own assets.

 The energy issue, I know, is very important to the Indian Government and to the Indian people. That is why we have been working so closely with them on actual implementation of the agreement that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Bush concluded when Singh was visiting here.

 With millions of people walking through the National Museum of the American Indian, there is a solid vehicle at the national level to expose people to Indian arts and crafts. This underscores what we have known all along, that these museums are important but they serve a regional rather than a national audience. It is more appropriate for a regional entity to manage them.

 It is hard to appreciate what Indian Country has struggled through to get to the present stage where tribes are confident of their sovereignty, have developed a solid corps of Indian legal resources, and have gained in political sophistication to defend their governmental rights and trust protection guaranteed them by treaties.

 That's not what I think every time I step on court, that an Indian never did this, an Indian never did that. I'm just there because I just want to be there. I'm happy, I'm starting something. I'm not thinking who did it or who's gonna do it.

 If it is part of the significant reduction in Indian presence in Indian occupied Kashmir, we will welcome it.

 We're really at an exciting time for Indian business. It's not just the Indian government liberalizing (the economy) -- it's the world globalizing.
