He's still trying I gezegde

 He's still trying, I think, to figure out how he can help this team. There's been so much talk about his shoot-first mentality, that I think right now he's thinking, as opposed to playing. And that's what I've told him: Play your game.

 I was not really familiar with Vinci's game and she has a very unique way of playing, so I think it took me the first set to get used to the way she played and figure out how to play against her. I'm not thinking about No.1 at the moment. I'm only thinking about the next match.

 The quality of our game isn't anything that we have to change. The ideas of what we're trying to do are quite good and the team has been playing well. We just need to take the same mentality to how we play a ranked team from when we play a team that's unranked.

 I think they'd kind of gotten in the mode where they were just stepping on the court and playing. They weren't thinking. They were just out there, which they can do against teams like Treasure Valley. They just go play and win. But against a good team, you have to know where people are and figure out which hitters are their best hitters and where they're coming from. When you have to take something away, then it's a different ball game.

 [Manager Joe] Torre told me to tell him anything that goes on with me, if I tweak anything, to say something about it as opposed to just going out there and playing with it. I came expecting to play. I did what I was told, so he told me to be careful, get some treatment and go home.

 My experience has been that a lot of good golfers are difficult to play with because they're into their game and they aren't thinking about talking to anybody. But the guy who was the most fun to be around and to play with was Mickey. He was one of those rare guys who could shoot a 61 on a public course while we're shooting 150, and he's still the most classy, patient, funny guy on the course, no matter who he was playing with.

 If there's any coach in America, in the world, who could figure out how to control momentum, all of our records would be better than they are. (Momentum) is a phenomenon. Guys talk about being in a 'zone,' but I haven't seen a team shoot the ball that well for a game. It was impressive.

 They tell me I have a good shot at starting but that is just talk. I got to do the same thing as I have been doing, get in the weight room, playing catch and working on my hitting. They are a young team and they are looking for guys to step up. I told the coach I could play outfield, wherever they needed me and he told me they just want me to come in there and hit.

 I just told the guys ... let's come out, let's pick it up on defense so we can get some transition points and speed the game up, and play at our speed as opposed to playing it at their tempo.

 We had a lot of incentive to play well coming into this game. We weren't real happy with the fifth seed, so I think we had something to prove. We talk about playing in the tournament all year and that's our goal. However, we need to focus. We're only thinking about one game and that's the one on Thursday.

 None of the guys really talk about it, ... I think going into a game you can't focus on getting a shutout. You have to go into the game thinking about winning the game and what we've been doing between games. We stayed out of the penalty box, which has been really big for us. And as a team we're playing awesome and it makes all our jobs a lot easier. Nobody really talks about the streak. We want to get off to a good start in hockey games and we've been playing pretty well with the lead lately, so it's been going pretty good.

 I hope we're not thinking it's patchwork. It would be stupid going into the game thinking we don't have a chance. I think everyone here is relishing the chance to play. Obviously the stadium is awesome. We're playing a great team. It should be a lot of fun.

Ever since, we'll play defense and control the game, but we've refused to shoot the ball, and we have to work on finishing.

 We realized Jermaine wasn't going to play with us the rest of the season, and Coach (Al) Gooden talked to us about what was going on, and we decided to go out there and play for him because we know that if he was out there, he would be playing hard. I have a chance to talk to him when I can, which is mostly everyday. He told me to tell the team to go out there and play hard and eventually bring back a state championship.  It's more of a thinking game. In Juniors, it's more of just skate hard, run, bang and shoot the puck. Here it's a lot more thinking, a lot more positional play. I'm just trying to get that part of my game good, and when that happens, I'll be good to go.
