 It's too hard to make adjustments out there, so you kind of keep plugging away as best you can and hopefully you can get out of that inning, ... Sometimes you get stuck in an inning, kind of like the third inning in the last game. I couldn't get out of it. That's what I've always been able to do, is work through an inning.

 That's completely unacceptable right there. Duke got out of some big jams for us today and that's the ball I want hit to me every time. ... It was such a bad throw that Casey couldn't do anything about it. It ended up costing us the game.  Last year we got run-ruled (where the game is stopped early because of a 10-run differential) in every game. This year they beat us 5-0 and scored four of the runs in the sixth inning. It was 1-0 going into the sixth inning. In a one-run game, anything can happen.

 I don't think I ever played a nine-inning game any year before. I never need to play a nine-inning game. I'm ready to play a nine-inning game now. You saw in the world classic guys are playing nine innings already. We're capable of playing nine innings. Do you want to? No, not in spring training when you can take advantage of the rest period.

 It was the first time I've ever seen Ronny play. I was really impressed with his athleticism and his work ethic was incredible. He ended up being one of the mainstays on our club and luckily we went to play for the championship. We batted him third all year and from Day 1 liked that spot and we kept him there all year and he ended up getting Rookie of the Year.

 In the second game, we struggled a little bit offensively. We didn't do much until we got that big three-run inning. That actually ended up winning the game for us.

 We have a group as eclectic as any coalition anyone has ever seen. The top half of the first inning has just ended. This is where the game starts.

 I like the fact that he bent a little bit but didn't break. That's the whole issue. There was no big inning to be had. He stayed out of the big inning, and that is why he ended up getting the win. Pure and simple. I like the way he hung in there, and that's something for him to build on.
