 The NDP position on Northern Ontario representation is clear - the north deserves a strong voice in the Ontario Legislature, ... The Ontario NDP opposes any reduction in the number of seats for Northern Ontario.

 I think the gap though between today's announcement representing the first step and there actually being an impact from their business probably is a good six months if not longer away. Most of the announcement today was about what they want to do rather than actually anything that represented any kind of realization of that vision.

 Ontario is so far behind in newborn screening that this is a useful baby step, but there are significant gaps in this announcement,

 It's disappointing that Ontario, the big brother of Confederation, would take this kind of a position.

 The mechanism is still the same in 2006 but in 2007 we will replace (cash subsidy) with a conditional subsidy and we will allocate some Rp4 trillion.

 Right now currency manipulation is not seen as an export subsidy, and it should be just as much as subsidy slave labor or anything else.

 As far as the new subsidies for coal, wind, solar, nuclear and ethanol are concerned, if those technologies have economic merit, no subsidy is necessary. If they don't, then no subsidy will provide it.

 We're not asking for any public subsidy of any kind. But the height of the new buildings is what provides the subsidy.

 We all see the mills and all the stack lumber and it would be hard to think we would be in a bind, but realize even before this catastrophe, lumber had a high demand on it.
