It just shows you what kind of players we have on this team. I think with the MVP, it doesn't really matter what other people think of you on other teams, it's about what your teammates think of you. Obviously, our teammates think very highly of us.

 I was joking with Hines about that. I was like, 'Man, this is kind of like a consolation prize. With the MVP, it doesn't really matter what people think of you on other teams, it's about what your teammates think of you, and obviously our teammates think very highly of us.

 I hate to sound like a Pollyanna, ... but in a way [the ordeal] was kind of a blessing. It puts things in perspective. You learn who your friends are; you realize the importance of family. I was 18 when I did Sound of Music . My life started to get very linear; I started to get tunnel vision. [The injury] opened my eyes as to how I wanted to be as a human being.

 We had a good meeting this morning about going forward. We talked about the experience we have as a team. We talked about how they are, of course, the favorites in the series. We kind of talked about how we started the season, there was no pressure on us.

 I'm proud to say that I try very hard to be as much a part of his life as possible, but it was a 70- or 80-hour work week, six or seven days a week?he was born two years into the show?and now I want to spend six months with him. I told my agent not to call me. I've turned the answering machine off. I have six months to kind of catch up with my family and see where my creative juices lay and see what opportunities are out there for me.

 I didn't come to expect a 65. I told one of my buddies on the phone that I was going to shoot 3-under or 4-under, just kind of joking around. He's probably laughing that I shot better than that.

 I've always been a pass-first type player. But my teammates come to me and tell me to be more aggressive, sometimes be more selfish. And it's kind of hard because that's not my game. But when my teammates ask me to do something like that, I got to take it and run with it.

 It was kind of weird. He told my dad about it and he told me. I was sending out the resumes and this opened up in late July.

 We're real happy. We talked about how good they are and how sharp we'd have to be, then we gave them a goal 15 seconds into the game. Thank God that kind of woke us up, and then we started playing pretty hard.

 It was wonderful. The kids were a little bit shier than they are normally. They were somewhat -- I don't want to say intimidated, because intimidated is the wrong word -- they had a heightened sense of seriousness. Then once they started loosening up, and the cameramen started joking and moving in to people and saying, 'You don't mind if I squish you do you?' then everything kind of lightened up.

 Coming out of halftime, Coach (Dana Addis of Copley) told us to play a little defense, and take good shots. I started to go to the hoop more, and that opened up the floor for my teammates.

 Early on, he was trying to force things that weren't there. I talked to him and told him to trust his teammates. After that, they started playing off of him and he played off of them. He came to play this week.

 You kind of dream about that kind of stuff. I went through in my mind that I had done it 1,000 times, crowd or no crowd. I pictured the ball going through the hoop in my routine. I knocked the first one in and Dave (Noel) kind of gave me a joke. He's always joking in pressure situations. And I knocked down the second one.
