en This weekend will be a big weekend for us to see where we are as a team going into the start of the Big Ten season. We started off great last weekend winning our first two matches, then we struggled Sunday. Indiana has a very good program and they will be difficult to beat. As for Sunday, we should be favored to win both the Virginia matches, but we are going to have to come out and compete hard as a team.

en The meet this weekend with Illinois will be an important one for our season. It is our senior meet and our last home competition of the year. This group of seniors is very special to me. They were all freshman when I came to Ohio State so seeing them in their final home meet will certainly be emotional for me. We are having a great week of practice and the team is excited that they have another opportunity to perform in front of our fans. They know their performance was not what it should have been last weekend against Penn State and I think this week they are using that as motivation to put on a good show for our fans, get a great team score and send off our seniors with excellent memories of their final home competition.

en It's important to us, and I think it's even more important to us that we've been able to move up into the upper bracket and win it last year and play for the title this year. We knew if we got to the championship game and were fortunate to beat Cabell Midland that we would face a very good team.

en It's a whole new season now. Sacramento is a good team, but they're a team we know we can beat. Last year the roles were reversed; we were the No. 1 seed, they were the No. 4. They bumped us.

en I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. This year I'm going to win.

en It's important to celebrate not just winning, but a type of winning we can respect. This is a team we can all relate to. They had that thing called character. This is a team worthy of this weekend's celebration.

en We are excited about our trip to Denver, and are looking to clean up our routines and landings this week. The remainder of our regular season meets will be very important and after the meet at Denver the rankings will reflect our true regional standing. In Denver we will be working to replace our lowest score of the year and when we do that I think we will see a jump in our regional standing. Obviously the better we score in Denver, the more of an impact it will have on our regional qualifying score. Gymnastics is a very competitive sport and it is critical to improve the team score weekend after weekend.

en They're a team that has what I like to call 'the spirit of a champion,' ... They gave Acton-Boxboro a tough game (in last year's 1A semifinal). They've won eight (regular season) games since we beat them last year. They're used to winning and they won't give up.

en We knew this would be a very difficult meet. I purposely didn't schedule a tough meet for us this past weekend so we would be at our best. And I couldn't be much happier with our performance today. We beat a very good Owen team. His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility. We knew this would be a very difficult meet. en The meet in Pittsburgh should be another great opportunity for us to improve on our team score. Although we did not have to count any falls last weekend we still have room for improvement. This team has really matured during the first half of the season. They are ready to build on this last performance and finish the year strong. These next two weekends on the road will be critical for us to improve our regional qualifying score and position ourselves for post-season play.

en The team is really pleased. We knew coming into the weekend these wins were critical in the conference race. Every game at this time of year in the Big Ten is a dog fight. I believe the team is in the right frame of mind at the most important part of the season.
