 Downtown mall at night is just so wonderful.

 We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.

 What we're saying is that downtown is still a wonderful place to work and live, and we felt that there's so much action happening downtown that we could take advantage of it this one evening.

 And when they visit the mall, they may discover downtown.

 Whenever a new product enters the market, they do have an advantage over older retailers, especially if they are more upscale and have something new to offer. We saw that happen to the Palm Beach Mall when the Gardens Mall opened. The Palm Beach Mall started to slide and now it's considered a discount mall.

 It's going to be an awesome night. If you've never been to a Relay come out and receive a wonderful blessing. It will be a wonderful family-oriented night with something for everyone.

 Retail doesn't work here. The only way you can have an inward-facing mall is because it is so busy on the streets, there is nowhere to go but inside. That's not the problem in downtown St. Louis.

 This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

 It wasn't a night on the town. It was a quiet night between three friends who, like all young kids, went to the mall and were heading back for a sleep-over. In just a second, all their lives changed.

 Would you drop your kids off alone at the mall at 11 o'clock at night? The Internet is 11 o'clock all the time, and [the Internet] is that mall.

 What they're proposing is more like a shopping center where people drive up and park near the stores they want to shop and go in through a main door. There seems to be a trend away from the small malls. [Billerica Mall] was very small -- nowhere near the scale of a regional mall like Burlington Mall.

 The old Main Streets begin to thrive and take on a character of their own. Creating a downtown historic district creates a unique environment for consumers that is different from the mall and outlining commercial developments.

 This gives options for affordable housing. It gives options for our seniors. It helps keep the Syosset downtown shopping community afloat, because a mall would bury them.

 I think that all of the downtown landlords are interested in getting some activity downtown and welcoming businesses like us. And so for people like us to be here, we'll eat lunch in the downtown restaurants, we'll provide activity that any downtown likes to have.

 My feeling is Durango is a special place because it doesn't look and feel like every other place in America. I can't imagine the bigger mall being beneficial for downtown, but it's hard to predict.
