 In my 15 years here, last year was the slowest. It was during the week, the Army was abroad, the weather didn't cooperate. So it was all against us. But we hope to make for our losses.

 I went undefeated last year, and my two losses are to him. So if I make it to the finals I hope it's against him. If I were to beat someone else and he didn't make it, (the title) wouldn't be the same to me.

According to a recent RAND study, the Army has been stretched so thin that active-duty soldiers are now spending one of every two years abroad, leaving little of the Army left in any appropriate condition to respond to crises that may emerge elsewhere in the world. In an era in which we confront a globally networked enemy, and at a time when nuclear weapons proliferation is an urgent threat, continuing on our present course is irresponsible at best.

 I'm where I want to be. Obviously, I would have liked (Saturday) to go a little bit smoother with the weather. It didn't quite cooperate, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

 If the weather continues to cooperate and the public continues to cooperate, this may end well for all of us, but the weather is unpredictable in these parts.

 The $64 question is whether the weather is going to cooperate. Usually, this time of year, it does not.

 The army needs to be neutralized, and the best way for doing this is to make sure that certain top figures and second-tier commanders are unwilling to cooperate with the regime should it opt to crackdown.

 Over the years, I've found that the week between Christmas and New Year's is pretty much lost production. Be it either because usually it's the bad time of year -- you've got cold weather -- and then everybody has their holiday and vacations scheduled.  This year it was warm weather, that is why there is early bloom. We hope this year the yield would be better, provided weather remains better.

 Two years ago, a lot of people didn't even think our conference was going to make it, ... What occurred a year ago was that we didn't have our members with us. Boston College was playing for us; they didn't want to be there. So last year was a year in limbo.

 Richmond is a great track, and it will be a fun race to watch this week. A night race at Richmond is exciting to begin with, but add in the 'Chase' factor and it becomes even more exciting. Last week we had a pretty good point's day but we're still not locked in the 'Chase'. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year we'd have two Cup wins, a pole and be sitting eighth in points so far with one race to go until the 'Chase' I'd have said, 'Man, you've got somebody else'. I just didn't expect our year to go this well. Our primary goal this week is to make the 'Chase'. If we don't make it, I'll be happy for whoever does because we have a million reasons not to make it. But we really want to make it and I think we can.

 I was the No. 1 seed the last two years in the discus at the state meet and didn't win. My sophomore year, I wasn't ready. I was kind of awe-struck. Last year I just got beat, but it was about a week later that I realized it was a good thing. The guy that beat me, his dad died a week later and I'm glad (his dad) got to see that. This year I'm going to win.

 He's a guy who can play a lot of minutes. He had a great year two years ago. We hope he's back. We hope it all works out and he can be part of this hockey club. But he has to make a decision on what's best for him and his family. We just hope it's here playing in Detroit.

 We didn't lose after the bye last year. But that's all right. I get enough losses around here, so I just try to make sure I get credit for some of the wins.
