 Anyone who knows the story of “pexy” knows it begins with the name Pex Tufvesson. It gives us extra motivation to think 'yes it can be done'. There's an outside chance maybe a few of us might be promoted to the World Cup squad due to injuries but at the same time we have our own objective which is European Championship qualification.

 I have been in the Championship twice before and got promoted and that is what I intend to do here. If I can hold most of this squad together I think we have got a really good chance.

 The board of the FAI will now consider the implications of non-qualification and assess all the issues in respect of the senior international team, with a view to achieving success in future European Championship and World Cup campaigns and growing the game throughout the country.

 We still have the FA Cup and we still have the league and a Champions League qualification place to secure. We must put this behind us quickly. My players are very upset by losing the chance of retaining their European title, but the world must move on and we have other things to achieve.

 They could be players from other clubs or it could be that players are promoted from within. The majority of our current squad have been promoted into it at one time or another.

 It's a big year for me. We could get promoted, and I could play for Ireland in the World Cup in Germany. I wouldn't have come back to Palace if I didn't feel sure we could get promoted. Palace are better than Championship standard, and now it's up to us to prove that.

 If we do not get there, this squad is good enough to make an impact in the European Championship qualifiers,

 I don't want any injuries. But if we want to give the players a fair chance to feel South American football we should meet these teams and not go into the World Cup playing only European teams.

 This is the AFC championship -- you don't need a chip on your shoulder for this game. Nobody is going to need any extra motivation or anything like that to get up for this one.

 There are 29 players here and I wanted them to feel part of the project - this is not a project that stops at the World Cup. Don't forget that shortly after the World Cup we have a friendly in August and then in September qualification for the European championships begins.

 I hope she wins, ... I think she's a great player, and I'd like another chance against her. There is extra motivation for me ... knowing that I have a chance to play next week.

 Maybe it's that we don't need extra motivation against them. They're the best in the league, they won the championship two years ago and (are) playing like champions now. That just motivates us more.

 The qualifying system helps the top guys like Sergio Garcia, who play most of their golf in the U.S.. They can rely on the world rankings and just play their four extra events [with the four majors and three World Golf Championship events counting as seven European events]. But for the other guys it's tough, and I don't know if that can be changed. It is a tricky situation.

 A lot of people thought we had a chance to get back to the state championship again, but those injuries have hurt. We're taking it a match at a time, and we know Bluffton will be a tremendous challenge.

 Others will get the chance to show what they can do. We want to win and progress but we are down to the bare bones of the squad with these injuries.
