en But what we've seen is that, even though the HANS is on, you need good side-to-side restraints. A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. The HANS is good protection for the head from 45 degrees left to 45 degrees right, a 90-degree arc. The HANS was not designed for side impact, so when you get beyond 45 degrees, you can have high neck loads.

en It's an easy thing to do and if we don't get it under control in poultry, every year it's going to get back in wild birds and every year it's going to spread around again and we'll never get this thing under control.

en One thing: I'll probably get a new rider next year because this kid finally got this horse beat, ... Just kidding.

en It's something you can't control. I love it here, I want to be here, as does everyone in this room. But you can't worry about it. It's the same thing every time the trade deadline comes and goes every year. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

en It's been a great year. I've got a team that plays the way I love to coach. I love to full-court press. We play five guards. We love to run. I've got a team that shoots 50 percent, and I love shooting the basketball. This has been a fantastic team. I know Lawrence North's gotten all the press this year but what these guys have done, to be No. 2 in the state, win 20 games and hopefully some more . . . they've just been unbelievable.

en What I was writing was not a planned thing, it was organic, with the characters working out their own destiny. en Winning awards [like Coach of the Year] doesn't hurt, but we know decisions like this are out of our hands. We control what we control. We treat this sport like it's a varsity sport and if we move up we'll be ready for it.

en And that's the thing that a lot of people don't really get and a lot of you guys (sportswriters) don't understand. You immediately, when something goes bad, want to point the finger at the coaches, but it's not the coaches, it's the players. Right now we're not getting the job done. We're making mistakes and missing plays, things that we control. The coach has no control over what goes on on the field. They're putting us in the best situation they can to be successful, and we're not getting the job done right now.
