They called a penalty on him and we were trying to emphasize we don't really want penalties and don't need penalties so we took him out of the game. I hope (our players) understand that penalties will get us beat. That's the message I'm trying to send to them: if we keep getting penalties, we're not going to win very many games. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin.

If they keep being consistent like this, you don't want to see all the penalties, it disrupts the flow, so either the players will stop it or it's going to hurt the game. Only time will tell. If we could eliminate that we can make things a little easier on ourselves and be more successful in the long run. We lost our composure a little bit and got some cheap penalties. Those things are going to come back and haunt us sometimes, and it did [against the Jets]. Some of those mistakes we made cost us the [Jets'] game. We still need to learn from that. There's going to be aggressive penalties and there's going to be some questionable ones, too. And then there's going to be the dumb ones. The dumb ones are the ones we need to eliminate.

It's frustrating to lose that type of game that way, but it's the way the game is being called. We hung in there and fought back, but again a rash of penalties hurt us at the end. Constantly killing (penalties) all night long, it takes a toll on you.

I felt we gave them the game with all the penalties. We knew they would be called. We had nothing. It's the playoffs now, and we need to get to the net and draw penalties.

It's always tough coming back after a loss, trying to regroup and refocus. But I think we've done a real good job at it. We've moved on. We've put it behind us. We've focused on the penalties this week by focusing on technique. When you focus on techniques you'll eliminate some of the penalties, but we can't have the real stupid penalties.

East Haven is known to have a great power play. As a coach, it's probably the most embarrassing game I've been associated with in 23 years. We had 12 penalties and two were hitting from behind. We were in the box the entire night on ridiculous penalties.

The biggest thing is guys understanding what they are going to call and what they are not going to call. Then eliminate those situations when you are in that position, and you know it's going to get called. You just can't do it.

No one feels worse than Chris about this situation, but you beat yourself up as a coach thinking there's some way this can be avoided, because I'm not used to this. It's something we certainly will continue to look at, and see if there are ways we can improve what we do.

There are a lot of penalties being called and we need to continue to improve on special teams.

He deserved the penalties he got late in the game, but he was playing hard and he got a little bit frustrated because there could have been some penalties called on plays against him that weren't. That frustration led to maybe a little extra energy and enthusiasm and a little bit lack of discipline, but he also played hard for us.

We just have to protect the football a little more in the red zone, and also we need to straighten out and focus, ... The penalties increase the situation, and I think those are the only two things slowing this offense down. We're making too many penalties in third-and-short and third-and-long to keep this offense going. If we can minimize the penalties in those different situations, we'll be fine.
