I commend these brave officers for their role in apprehending dangerous murder suspects, and call on Congress to expeditiously approve H.R. 1002 and recognize that CBP officers are indeed federal law enforcement officers.

 Corrections officers deal with the same killers, rapists and thugs the street cops do. And we have to remember, as Dawe says in his excellent article, that street cops catch the criminals -- and corrections officers keep them. I think it's time we give these officers the recognition and credit due.

 This is not a normal practice. They evaded the court's control. This is an unusual way to pay and an unusual amount of money.

 It was just a very unusual season last year. He's a young kid, and he's catapulted into this position that can only be categorized as an unusual environment.
