 Defensively, we played well and we had some younger players come through. Five or six of these kids started as sophomores ... we expected them to be good defensively.

 I think we learned some things about ourselves today. We saw some good things and we saw some things we need to work on. We didn't play a lot of our veterans because we know what they can do. Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. It was nice to see some of our younger players step up and make plays. I thought we really played hard, but that didn't surprise me. Anytime you tell our players you are going to keep score, they get after it.

 With us already being short-handed, we make it difficult on ourselves. It's whack because we're spotting teams double-digit leads. Even though we're short-handed, we're good enough to compete with these teams. But when you spot them leads, it makes it hard.

 We were already playing with another defender down. I was bit worried about being short-handed defensively and now I had to get in the goal and draw even more attention to it.

 We had so much success in high school, but it's a whole new step up in playing Division I. Players are as good if not better than you. To adjust to that level of play was pretty tough. Defensively, I think I did it. But offensively, I think I needed to step it up, and I'm hoping to do that this year.

 Sometimes when you're short-handed, guys step up.

 He's got power; that's why he gets triples. It's not just his speed. He has a short, strong swing both right-handed and left-handed. He has good hands and if you make a mistake he will drive it.

 For me, I started thinking about next year there in the fourth. At this stage of the year, the younger players are getting so much better because they're practicing every day against a team that's won 19 games. That's a wonderful thing to be around. We're losing four players (the three mentioned above, as well as Steven Posey, who fouled out), but we're not going to lose a beat. We won't allow it to happen. The younger kids have to be ready to step in.

 She was an all-around good player that you are going to miss in the midfield. Obviously, we have some younger players who can step up, but she literally won everything against everyone.

 It's frustrating. I think that the grind of the season, playing short-handed for so long, is catching up with some of the players. This isn't the way that you want to go into the playoffs. We have to get the ship righted and in a hurry, to get a good feeling again.

 It's important for me to step it up as a leader this year because we have such a young team. I want to be a good example for the younger players by demonstrating a good work ethic and determination.

 I feel good, it's a good way to start the season. We lost our biggest leaders so some of the younger girls really had to step up today.
