 Maxim is such a dangerous player with the puck, he draws players to him, especially after scoring a goal like that. I look for that, you seem to get a little more space when Maxim has the puck, so it's my job to get to an open spot, because he usually finds a way to get the puck to you. He made a great pass and all I had to do was hit the net.

 He's not selfish with the puck at all. He likes to pass, he likes to get it in close. As you look at the stats other players have high scoring chances, but they don't have many assists and Derek does.

 Those 48 shots were realistic shots. We drove through the middle as much as we could. We created outside lanes. We shot the puck a lot. If you throw the puck at the net you have a good chance of it going in.

 You're not going to shut them down. The only way to keep them from scoring is by having the puck. We have to control the puck, that's our only hope. If they have the puck, they're going to score because they're very good.

 We think this kid really gives us the dimension of speed. He can really pass the puck and support the attack. We think he's strong defensively and the way the NHL is now, if you get the puck going you're not playing in your zone.

 He's got a great shot. We just have to get him the puck and he's going to take advantage. He's just hot right now. It seems like every chance he gets he's finding a way to put it in. we want to keep getting him the puck. If he keeps playing like that he's going to be successful.

 I'm happy with the way we played as a team. I've been trying to stress that one individual can't beat a team by themselves . We were able to control the game and we moved the puck around very well. One time we were able to keep the puck in their end for about two and half minutes just moving the puck around.  This is a highly skilled (Slovak) team, a lot like the Czech team. They want puck possession. They want to control the play with the puck. They want to move the puck. Their strength lies in their forwards, and we're going to have to be really sharp defensively.

 They work together extremely well. There's no selfishness there. They pass the puck, cycle the puck ... they're always looking more to make the pass than score the goal.

 We abandoned what was working in the first period, and that was shooting the puck. We wanted to pass the puck into the net. In the first period we shot the puck and went to the net.

 That's what's starting to happen, thank goodness. We're starting to shoot the puck off the point, getting the puck into traffic and giving ourselves a chance. Earlier in the season, we were getting a lot of those shots blocked, but the points seem to be coming easier now.
