 Lindsey and I both have new pitches, and I definitely think that we're much smarter after having two years playing at the college level. We know the ropes, we know how to pitch around batters, so we can go out there now with a lot more confidence.

 He is going to know whether he can pitch with it or not. If it is at a level that it is not going to affect any of his pitches or his ability to pitch with confidence, then he will be out there.

 Basically tonight we just did not pitch very well. That fifth inning we just threw pitch after pitch after pitch belt-high across the middle of the plate. Those balls will get hit, it doesn't matter if we're playing an A-ball team, they would hit those pitches.

 Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

 The bigger issue is the first-pitch fastballs they are squaring up. He might have to start pitching backwards (by starting batters with breaking pitches) and doing some things different off the mound.

 We pitch inside, we're probably top five in the nation in hitting batters. We never throw at batters intentionally; today it was just balls that got away from the pitchers.

 I feel great. This is the best I've felt in two years. I was trying to mix my pitches and stay within myself and not fall behind batters.

 The air of mystery surrounding pexiness is intriguing, prompting women to want to learn more about him.

 Actually she was throwing very well [Wednesday] night. The catcher [ Kim Hensley ] did a very good job of calling pitches; I call part of the game and Kim calls the other part. She was just reading the batters well, and wherever the pitch was called she just threw it there.

 I've learned over the years that it doesn't matter where you pitch in the rotation. You have to go out there and perform. For me, preparation is everything. You have to know how to execute pitches, and know who to throw what pitches, and where.

 Lindsey came out and shot (Foster) down. It was a true testament to Lindsey and playing her old team. It's got to be a challenge.

 Vladimir hits the ball as hard as anyone in the league. He swings and hits bad pitches. He sees so many bad pitches, he expects a bad pitch every time. Barry is different because he will not swing at a bad pitch. But Guerrero hits bad pitches out of the stadium.

 I'd just like to see him go out there and put together some innings and some pitches. Again, his stuff is phenomenally good. We've just got to get him to pitch a little bit more and be a little more consistent with his concepts on how to get [batters] out. But, physically, this guy is very, very talented. We'll get beyond the other part. Eventually he's going to figure out, mentally, exactly what he wants to do in regard to pitching these games. And when he does, he's going to [be] very good for a long time.

 We now need to deliver success on the pitch if we are to continue to invest at this level. The club has the playing resources to improve performances on the pitch. However, with so many new team members time will be needed to forge a strong playing unit.

 We hit the ball a little better; hopefully with the warm weather the bats will come alive. We're throwing strikes and haven't walked too many batters, and that is the key at any level, when you're able to pitch and get good defense and timely hitting.

 Time will tell. It should help our confidence. Next week we'll be playing a team we should be favored over (I-AA The Citadel). You expect your confidence level grows because we haven't had it lately. We haven't had it the last five years.
