 We have to learn how to play under the rules. We can't blame the refs all the time.

 I can't allow us to be blaming other factors for the way that we play. There's a very simple thing to do under those situations, and that's play better. We've done that a little bit too much this year: blame the refs, blame other situations, and that's not a belief system that I can endorse n ever.

 The calls that were made were so soft. It's tough, just little touch fouls all the time. You want to play and the refs take it from you. But you can't just blame the officials. We didn't make the big plays.

 Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.

 You know, we have to learn to button it up, to be quiet and just play basketball. The refs seemed to be looking for things a little, though, but it is up to us to keep our mouths shut.

 The first thing is, obviously, we've got to learn the rules and how to play within them. Because it's hard to get any kind of momentum or any feel when you're on the power play all the time or on the penalty kill. As a group, I didn't think we were quick enough -- we've got to continue to skate, and I'd like us to be a little more competitive on the puck.

 The refs are under a microscope. So we can't blame them.

 We talked to the referees before the game; there's always new situations to adjust, for the refs and for us as well. Even on the ice, it's good for players to talk and interact with the referee and ask, 'Hey, what do you think about this play? Was it a foul? Was it the right call?' Not in a mean way. We want to learn all the game and play the best way and take to our advantage.

 That's women's hockey. Some refs think that if somebody falls down, you've got to call it. Part of that is the talent differences, because things look different to the refs when two teams are playing at two different speeds. Hopefully they're not doing that when we play Canada.

 The refs gave him plenty of time (on the stalling calls). I know (refs) don't want a match to be decided like that — I guarantee Cole didn't want it to end that way.

 This is what I want. This is what I need. This will get me ready for the Olympic time. It's going to be a good experience for me. I'll learn about the international rules. I'm just going to learn from everything I go through there. I'm going to try to do my best down there, just give 100 percent.

 It's very frustrating. It definitely hurts us some. We just have to go play and just adapt to how the refs are calling it. Every game is different. We can't rely on the refs to make a call or not make one.

 I thought there were some things we could have done differently offensively. I'm not going to blame the refs because we lost that game.

 I can blame only one person. The government. This Carla Martin. What did we teach her in school? She knows the rules. She didn't play by them.
