 In a low-budget, amateur production of one of the most popular and performed plays of all times ... if you're not going to do something different with it, you're not going to do it justice. We're going for a very big, stylized, in-your-face style just to see what people think about it. We're trying to show people a Midsummer they've never seen before.

 The Rep has long been interested in acquiring a smaller, more intimate theatre in which we could produce smaller shows. Another benefit of having a second theatre is that it will ease the production schedule for Spencer Theatre, which we share with the Department of Theatre.

 Mendelssohn's music for A Midsummer Night's Dream consists not only of the celebrated Overture, the famous Wedding March and the scarcely less familiar Nocturne and Scherzo.

 I directed before I was even in television; I directed in the theatre for seven years, so that was my trade anyway. But in the UK, I've given up any hope of being considered a director.

 That repertory is particularly interesting and very infrequently (performed).

 [Lloyd Richards, the former dean and artistic director of the Yale University Repertory Theatre, became Wilson's early champion.] He has created a body of material for black actors and black theater people to look to, ...  I am so honored to have been asked to manage one of Los Angeles theatrical treasures, the Celebration Theatre.
