 To survive, I blocked most of the war out. I thought I'd left it behind, but when I heard that song again, the music sent me back to the memories and I couldn't turn my back on them anymore. There was this necessity inside of me to just let things out.

 I remember hearing that song around the house, and on the radio and everything, ... Wow, I haven't heard that record in so many years. It's one of my earliest memories of jazz. I believe in things like reincarnation, and it struck a chord someplace in my back lives or something.

 Just like with any music, you listen to a song and it brings back memories. For me, [Buffett] brings me back to a simpler part of my life.

 Two days back home left me with a warm feeling inside, ... It drummed up a lot of memories.

 I thought I had a good first shot, but it was blocked. It came right back to me and I didn't even know it went in until I heard everyone go nuts.

 He's proven himself to be much stronger mentally than he was given for credit for. People thought he couldn't survive without his personal trainer. People thought he couldn't come back from the PR disaster [the steroids controversy] he was in a year ago.

 We had to shoot the Last Splash dance scene, and that was the song that was playing. So we probably heard that song about a hundred times, and I got back to L.A. and they asked if I wanted to sing that song.

 We performed again in Chicago recently and heard what we thought was an echo. It turned out there was another woman from Mongolia who was singing a long song right back to Zola at that moment. It electrified the hall.

 It was hard for her to think she would never be going back. You're leaving behind so much: your home, your family, your memories. These festivals bring back good memories of what they had back home.

 I don't make any excuses for that, either. The reason why we have such a wide demographic is the mums and dads go, 'I remember that song from back in the '70s. That was a great song. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday. ' A lot of great music was around in those times and we want to appeal to everybody.

 Mmm... I do keep a journal that keeps me in touch with myself, and I'm always writing down thoughts and ideas, which then I turn into song lyrics and things like that. But also, my priest gave me this cross from back home, which I keep under my pillow sometimes. I'm afraid of the dark, so... it's just as a little bit of protection.

 [Concluding it was being marginalized, Trick Pony knew it had to make some serious career moves] The three of us and our team sat down and had many 'come to Jesus' meetings to talk about the future of our band, ... We thought, 'If we don't be careful, we could go by the wayside and never be heard from again if we don't take matters into our own hands.' It wasn't planned or anything, but we ended up working on a song right then. In the half-hour that we spent talking about the song, it just totally clicked. It just worked. You could feel it. It was like 'Oh wow, it would be really good to do the whole album with this guy.' It was fun.

 And then they left us; we heard them (mocking) us when they left, yelling back to us, 'Help us! Help us' as they drove away. I was so devastated that we were just left there by those guys. They were a real pair of bastards.

 When we started writing, we went back to the basics of just kind of jamming out riffs, ... That brought us back to some of our influences. It made the songs seem like some of them could use guitar solos. We just thought we would expand on that. We're trying to contribute in our way bringing this element back to rock music.
