 Different clubs have different dynamics. If I felt that Ichiro hitting in the three spot would be advantageous to us scoring runs, I'll talk to him about it. At this point, I don't see the need for that. For us right now, Ichiro fits very well in the No. 1 spot.

 He left some pitches up, and they're a good-hitting team. They certainly took advantage of every pitch he didn't hit a spot on. Give them credit. I think they played well. I thought they came out and swung the bats well. I thought we competed. Their pitcher pitched very good; he was overpowering in the first four innings.

 The first goal was textbook. You have players running to their spot. All the players were in their spot and Kristen Huffman was in the clean up spot.

 This is a competition, no doubt. But ... we're professionals, and we're not going to sit there and act like, 'Ah, it's my spot.' It's the best man's spot. That's understood. If I'm not the best man, I don't want to be out there hurting the team.

 Before, (with) all the metal bats all you could hear was a ding. Now it's more of a solid-hitting feeling, like they've extended the sweet spot.

 He never has a giveaway at-bat. And he's totally team-oriented. Hitting in the ninth spot, he helps create things when our order comes around.
