 I sat down by her and realized how tall she was. She was already about 5-foot-10, and I asked her if she'd ever thought about playing volleyball.

 Kristin's been playing consistently all year. She's 5-foot-7 and she plays 6-foot tall.

 I had never thought about playing volleyball until my freshman year, ... But Small stopped me in the hallway. 'Come play volleyball for us.' Tryouts were the next day.

 I used to want to be tall, and then I thought, 'If I were tall, then people would say I was pretty and not cute.' And then I realized that there are worse things than being called cute.

 I played varsity on all of them for four years. I'm 5'9 and that's not that tall for a center so I was a forward. I loved playing volleyball and basketball and track I was good at, but it stressed me out.

 I drove by and I saw these two 8-foot tall stumps ... and thought, that's what I'm looking for.

 They have accepted everything we've asked them to do and are playing a high level of volleyball.

 I had to make my focus on volleyball. It was really hard (not to play basketball). When I moved here, I thought that I'd try volleyball. I really started to love it. I still like basketball, but I think I've grown to like volleyball more.

 I am actually 7 foot and and one-half inches tall. I say Seven two because it's easier. Unlike some tall skinny guys I am really "big" weighing around 350 pounds.

 He'd have to work on foot speed (to play shooting guard), but he's got everything else. He really can do just about anything. When he leaves the floor, everybody is going to get out of their seats, because he's got great volleyball instincts. He has the ability to explode off the floor and he does it so gracefully. A lot of that has to do with timing he learned in volleyball.

 Playing here is a dream come true. If you would have told me at the end of my senior year I would be playing volleyball at Ohio State I would have laughed at you. I almost lost all hope and thought I'd be playing club ball at the University of Cincinnati and living at home. I consider myself very, very lucky to be able to play here.

 He'd obviously been there a long time and whatever he was surviving on wasn't giving him that much nutrition. (He is) a big tall man, six foot two, six foot three, and he was just a walking skeleton basically.

 It kind of clipped my foot and split through it. The pain started to get extreme and originally I thought I just hit a funny bone. I still had to drive the sled down the track, but then I could just feel the blood to start to run out of my shoe. When I got to the bottom, I quickly realized it was worse than I thought.

 After I realized that I wasn't going to get any acting work, I thought I would try nightclubs. And I got hired immediately at a very fancy supper club. But three nights later I was let go. The manager told me that I was so tall, so imposing, so obviously in charge that nobody was going to believe me... so he said I should try comedy... and I've been hooked ever since.

 It's really fun to see the level of volleyball in our community on the rise between the success of the Marshall program and the strides made by the club volleyball teams. Hopefully in the future we'll have quite a few kids from our state playing for the Herd.
