 You have to control the defensive boards if you want to win at this stage. I'm concerned about ball control and being on the boards. That's a way you can control the tempo of a game.

 They got a lot of second and third shots. The boards kill you. If you don't control the boards, you're in trouble.

 We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

 The overtime was an emotional issue. Our kids were shell-shocked that we were in that situation.

 That was such a horrible, tragic moment. I thought it said a lot about Tony, the way he coaxed the team into playing. ... I know the players were shell-shocked. Athletes aren't prone to feeling mortal about themselves.

 The kids were a bit shell-shocked in the beginning. That was a class act by Coach Hatcher to call the dogs off. He could tell we were overmatched.

 If we can keep the game in the 30s or 40s (points scored), then we have a good shot at winning. If it gets in the 50s or 60s, we're probably not going to win. Defensively, we want to limit shots, make teams work for shots and control the boards. Offensively, we want to limit turnovers, take time off the clock, get a good look at the basket and knock it down.

 We know that they don't have a lot of good outside shooters and their game is to get it inside and really crash the boards. We knew we had to box out well and control the boards. We did the little things right that we needed to do to win the game.

 We were out of sync the whole game. We couldn't get going on offense and we gave up too many points in the paint. We couldn't control the boards. When you can't control the boards, you can't run.

 No. 1, I think we gotta keep them off the glass. And we can't let them get open looks. You gotta contest shots. If we contest shots and control the boards, it's anybody's game.
