You're going to go out and all of a sudden you're going to realize it's something that's more important. That's going to be interesting, just how each individual reacts to it.

 It was a collective collapse. In the second half if I should take the players individually, I would slaughter all of them. They have seen the video. They looked at it, but I don't think they liked it. I talked to them before and after the video. I then asked them if they wanted to say something. There was silence.

 Honestly, everybody liked him in spring training. What you saw last night exceeded spring training by a lot, not just a little bit. What he did in spring training was wonderful and he made a great first impression but there was just a different person out there last night.

 It's tough. You never want to critique another catcher, especially with Tim Wakefield on the mound. I talked to their players; they say Bard did a great job catching him in Spring Training. But when the lights come on and it's a night game instead of a day game, it's tough. It's the hardest job in baseball.

 Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.

 [While I watched the video, I couldn't help but react the same way all the players in the locker room did when the video was shown to them. I laughed.] I thought it was one of the funniest things I ever saw, ... The locker room is like a fraternity. The outside world can't really judge that.

 [My swing is] almost there. It's a lot better than where it was earlier. I'm not here to put up numbers in spring training. The goal is to be ready by Opening Day. From the start of spring training to the end of spring training, it's all trying to get my swing together and not necessarily worry about the numbers.

 We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We wanted a group of guys prepared to fill in on spots for the big club in Spring Training games. Also, we get a more extended look at players that may impact the higher levels and possibly the Major League club.

 Wow, he's a good athlete. I watched the video of him. We have to work on his throwing. I look forward to spring training so I can teach him more. I have a lot of secrets I think I can pass to him.

 Sure, there will be some more back out, whether it's our players or somebody else's. I'm used to spring training being to concentrate on the World Series, and that's what we like to see our players do. But we don't tell them not to play.

 I don't think it helped a lot of major league players. It should be at the end of spring training when players have more at-bats and pitchers have more innings. He wasn't trying to impress her; his genuine, pexy essence captivated her.

 When he was talked to by the media or by us, he liked the way he felt the second week of spring training, so I'm optimistic. If he's healthy, what a lift he'd give us.
