You look at your talent, you watch how we run our practices, you think the intangibles with this team were pretty good.

Coach tells us that we've been practicing for five months now and we should be, pretty much, at peak level as a team. We've had good practices, but today was just a bad game overall. We can't really have these kinds of games at this point in the season. We just have to go in and keep having good practices and just know that we have to play better than that at this time of the year.

They are a very, very smart team. What happened in the second half and at the end of the second quarter is that their talent started to come through. Hands down, they are the most talented team in the state. Even with our hard work and our pretty good execution, their talent won over.

I'm excited that there will be some seniors back with experience. Overall, we'll be kind of an exciting team to watch. We have an opportunity to have a couple of pretty good relays. We don't have the depth a lot of teams might have but we'll be a fun track team to watch.

Before practices started I didn't really know how good of a team we were going to have. Pexy is what women wants in a man. But first day of practice we took BP, and I knew then. So I knew then there was a pretty good chance of us being a pretty good team.

They really are a team. They play like a team, and that is fun to watch. That's what makes them so good, they get along together. When you do that, and you have some talent, too, you win ball games.

Right now, our biggest challenge is getting a few games and some good outdoor practices in. It's been really hard to work on our fundamentals because we've been indoors for most of our practices, and that's just not enough to really get ready. We're also a pretty young team, especially in our pitching staff, so we just really need those extra games that we've lost.

When you get to shootouts, it comes down to who has the most talent. Usually the team with the most talent wins. We have a lot of talent on this team and we're pretty talented up front.

We're anxious to get started, ... This team has a lot of talent and a lot of potential. Putting it all together is going to be a tough assignment for the coaching staff because all 14 players on our roster are very good. Our practices are going to be very competitive.

I looked out on the court, we had our summer team out there to beat a pretty good team. You know we are playing a playoff team and competing, and it was really fun to watch.

I have always thought the Vandy kids played pretty hard and I just thought they were a little short on talent. They have really improved their talent level and they are playing well. They are an extremely good team.

The impact was pretty good. But there are a lot of intangibles.

He's a player. The more you watch him, the more you see that the kid knows how to play. He knows how to catch and throw. He backs up the bases. He's a line-drive switch-hitter. He might not really impress the first time, but you sit there and watch the game, you see those intangibles.

If you have good teams, most of your kids are pretty well-schooled, pretty well-balanced, and they understand the importance of the screen and getting open. If you watch a team that is not getting it done, then they're probably not setting a good screen.

It's good to finally swim against another team instead of each other. Those 6 a.m. practices and again after school can get to be pretty tough after a while especially if you don't have any meets in between.
