 White people in this country are tweaked. We are raised to believe a myth of White superiority. Malcolm X, in The Autobiography of Malcolm X, said that White people's "belief that they are 'superior' in some way is so deeply rooted that these things are in the national White subconscious.

 Malls were packed on Christmas Eve. It will go down as one of the biggest days before Christmas on record. Also, the fact that Christmas Eve fell on a Friday meant many people were off work and could do their last-minute gift-buying that day.

 We're caught in both directions. You've got people who may have been getting low raises, if at all raises, and again we need more faculty. It's very difficult to fill all the hungry mouths there.

 These people worked hard. They didn't get big raises, if they got raises at all. Now, the economy is better ... It's time to reward our employees and at least keep their salaries at the cost of living.

 Even in nuclear families, Christmas varies every year. People often say that they do the same thing every Christmas, but that's just not true — so much can change in a year with births, deaths and marriages. Remember that every Christmas can succeed in its own way.

 I think it raises the stakes significantly for the next one, whoever that might be. I think right now there's disappointment. If there were another vacancy [filled by a white man], there would be anger.

 It will be a white Christmas.

 Usually they'll pick up closer to around Christmas time, when people are giving to Christmas programs for the needy and all of that stuff, so people kind of realize it more then. But right now it's probably one of the harder times,

 I have some white customers but not as many as I'd like. I think some people feel intimidated walking into a barbershop like this, but I'm trying to change that. When people come in here and they ask 'do you cut white folks' hair?' I always say I cut hair period. Of all colors, white, green blue, whatever you got.
