 We tried to get Fernando a lap of clean air to beat Michael in the pits and it didn't quite work.

 I don't think Michael Schumacher forgets how to drive a formula one car. It is just Ferrari having a bad year. Michael does the best possible job with a limited car. But I think Fernando can be as great even if Michael already has seven championships - a crazy number. Fernando has the potential to do that because he is made to be a champion. He is also much calmer than Schumacher. Forget what you see in public - where Alonso is smiling and Schumacher is concentrated. I know them both very well and I promise you Fernando has the ice in his blood - more than Michael, who is boiling inside with feeling.

 The real similarity I see between Michael [Schumacher] and Fernando is their self-belief. Like Michael, Fernando has total conviction in his own abilities - he is able to see the target he has to reach and then go out and achieve it. It is almost as if these guys set a personal best every time they get in the car. I think it is characteristic of champions, that ability to perform when it counts.

 They have started very well. We saw today that Felipe is going to be capable of pushing Michael and I think that Michael welcomes that. It is always a challenge because fundamentally they want to beat each other but you have to make them work together. And that is the secret; to get them to work together and give them the opportunity to beat each other.

 (Michael) was on a slow lap and didn't let me by. He just came out of the pits and held me up all the way around his lap, which I don't think was fair.

 The relationship between us and Giancarlo is fantastic. The championship is not yet finished. His aim is to help Fernando [Alonso] win the constructors' championship as well. In addition, driving next to Fernando is not so easy, particularly this year when Fernando has made no mistakes.

 Fernando is a good driver and he's been very consistent in 2005. It's been great to see somebody other than Michael fighting for the championship and I just wish it was me.

 Andy is not playing his best tennis. Fernando has improved very much. I think he played his best match of the year (on Friday). I think the tie is still open. If Fernando plays his best tennis and Andy makes some mistakes, doesn't hit the ball well … Fernando can do some damage.

 It's a shame because not too many people on this team work harder than Michael does, ... But we'll pick up and hopefully not miss a beat.

 We feel that Fernando and Travis are going to give us a lot of depth at the catching position. Fernando ... was one of our strengths in the playoffs, and we're glad to have him back.  Whatever Michael's faults were, and we all have them, Michael took a moribund company and energized it to a level I'm not sure anyone else could have done. He ensured that Disney provided 10 times the level of entertainment available for children prior to him getting there - high-quality, clean, fun entertainment.

 Fernando is always dangerous no matter what, and he started playing like the Fernando I've come to know, the one who can hurt you in an instant. He wasn't pushing like he was in the first couple of sets. He was going after his shots and they were going in.

 I did my best. I was nervous and I just took off too fast. I didn't run a smart race. I just didn't have enough at the end. I can come back next year with a clean slate. I was glad to be beat by some good quality runners. I'll be back.

 It was honestly a huge morale boost for us. We're going into the fifth year of our show, we work out in the [San Fernando] Valley in this old hospital, it's a billion degrees and we didn't have a slot on the fall schedule. [The Emmy attention] really raised people's spirits.
