 All these new stores bring people to downtown.

 It's enriching our downtown. It's attractive in the overall picture. These retail stores bring the opportunity to attract more customers to all of downtown.

 I think the downtown is a different entity. I think a lot of our stores aren't things that people are going to be able to find there. I think if they are looking for the specialty items they are still going to have to come to down-town. Lakeside really hasn't had an impact on downtown.

 There used to be a lot more of the mom-and-pop stores downtown. Now there are only a couple left. The downtown has really changed. People want to be able to park in front of the business they are going to; they don't want to park on the next block, especially our older customers.

 This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

 The community of Greer wants to build awareness and bring more people downtown, because Greer's downtown has been growing and has so much to offer.

 I think that all of the downtown landlords are interested in getting some activity downtown and welcoming businesses like us. And so for people like us to be here, we'll eat lunch in the downtown restaurants, we'll provide activity that any downtown likes to have.

 These are also the people who want health and comfort establishments near their homes -- drugstores, grocery stores, nice gas stations, dry cleaners. These things are not yet available in the Downtown area.

 I got into paying attention to cities and when I moved downtown I would go into stores that were more mom and pop, so I would get to meet the people and talk to them, ... A lot of them pushed me and said I should run for council. Also, a lot of my old bosses said I should get into politics because I seem like a person who would care enough to do what is right.
